"Brexit travel insurance" - worth getting, or just a huge con?

Due to be travelling to Europe 8th-15th April, and then again 25/05-02/06.

Looking at travel insurance, and there is an option that includes "Brexit related cancellations". It's about £40 more expensive. Is this worth the extra, or just a money making exercise for the insurance companies?

con

Yes that was my first instinct too

My instincts say con, but I wouldn't be surprised if there will be a small print somewhere saying they won't pay out for Brexit related cancellations. Insurance companies make money by refusing to pay out based on whatever reason they can find.

My provider told me I’d be covered by atol and the credit card company. We are flying long haul but through Italy so fingers crossed.

Flights are the least likely to be disrupted
its any sort of ferry / tunnel crossing, especially of the Kent variety
that will go pear shaped

my DD is flying into the UK a few days after probable Brexit
I am quite sure that she'll be fine

however I'm not booking our family holiday for Easter weekend anywhere abroad until I KNOW if we'll be in the EU or not.

I'm sure I read somewhere (might be money saving expert) that a lot of insurances were going to be affected by Brexit and to be careful if you were buying. £40 seems a lot, but guess it's the assumption that of/when Brexit happens it's highly likely to have a knock on affect on everything.

I’ve just insured my parents’ holiday to Germany + Austria against No Deal. Comprehensive travel insurance against flight cancellation, hotel cancellation, £1500 of cover if they get stuck there, and also health insurance as they’re 81. £290.

That seems sensible for the health and ages side of things
but its all such a shambles
