I don't remember seeing anything about parliamentary process to change the leave date to 12th / 22nd etc

Have gov forgot to do this, and will we therefore crash out in a couple of days?

I follow the westministenders thread but I don't remember seeing confirmation of this. Grateful if someone could confirm!

I did try googling but no easy answer popped up so I thought I'd ask the knowledgeable people here instead

they were changing it this afternoon according to the BBC

I've just seen they're debating it now and voting on it later.

Long hours over the last fortnight... Grin

No. Even if the SI doesn't pass the leave date is 12 April. But if it doesn't pass it's legally messy as domestic law won't match international law.

Oh

What a surprise - something weird and confusing and messy relating to Brexit

Hmmmm

We are leaving either on the 12th April or 22nd May depending on whether May passes the Withdrawal Agreement.

It's written into EU law which is automatically written into UK law until we formally leave.

The problem is domestic law currently refers to the leaving date being the 29th. Its out of sync with international law (which is superior to domestic law) and is now wrong.

So our laws will say the wrong thing which will cause legal chaos if its not changed

Parliament at this moment, are debating this, ahead of a vote later tonight to pass a statutory instrument which would amend domestic law and change it to match international law.

This vote SHOULD comfortably pass, and the issue should be resolved. There are only a few Hardline nutters who are still trying to dispute this.

Where's Guy Fawkes when you need him?!

Drizzlehair · 27/03/2019 20:12

Oooh a reply from redtoothbrush, yay! Very exciting Grin

I'm off to watch 45 mins of fun TV and do some knitting before I potentially depress myself watching the vote results

I really don't advocate blowing up the HoP!>

I understand Bill Cash is doing that earlier Smile

Palace of Westminster is falling down.

MPs need to move out soon for perhaps ten years.

May have to do a Spurs and play at Wembley.

I wish they'd let each other speak! I am sure they would'nt want children to behave like that at school.
