Question for brexit voters and tories

Drizzlehair · 25/03/2019 19:26

Are you happy with TM? If not her, who would you like to lead the tories?

I'm interested in how many are jrm fans, what your view is of his hypocrisy re disaster capitalism, the huge amounts of money he's going to make the worse Britain does as a result of brexit. I was reading about the death threats about Anne Soubry due to her being a traitor and just wondered if anyone would view jrm as a traitor too? His vested interest makes him look like a traitor to me, so wondering if this view is widely held or if there is another way to look at it which I'm not considering

Not trying to be goady... Just wondering. I guess I've got trump on my mind too, wondering how his voters square the hypocrisy of him beung so pally with Russia. On that one I gather his core base don't read or watch media except fox/breitbart so don't believe the pro Russia stuff. However I cant believe many pro brexit people aren't aware how much jrm, banks etc plan to make by betting on Britain going properly down the shitter after brexit, esp if no deal

Don't you think the only possible leader is some grey man type leader, a John Major clone, Lidington or Hammond maybe. Not one of the big personalities.

Bojo, JRM, Gove: don't want this poison chalice. They only want to be PM in easier times. Rudd might be daft enough to take it on (another woman cleaning up the mess the men made...)

CoachBombay · 27/03/2019 19:42

I'd actually like Esther McVey to be leader if I'm honest. She's a vocal brexiteer, that would appease the brexit gang without being "one of the boys"

DustyDiamond · 27/03/2019 20:46

Can't stand Boris & JRM at the mo - I'd like to see another woman, if not then Johnny Mercer would be a good unifier I think.

Coppersulphate · 27/03/2019 20:47

I am happy with TM but will also be happy with Boris or JRM.

Coppersulphate · 27/03/2019 20:49

Or Michael Gove. Overall I think Gove will be best.

DustyDiamond · 27/03/2019 20:58

Michael Gove I would go for as well actually

Langrish · 27/03/2019 20:59

“CoachBombay

I'd actually like Esther McVey to be leader”

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😱

CoachBombay · 27/03/2019 21:58

It would finish her off politically too, two birds one stone and all that 😂

Doubletrouble99 · 27/03/2019 22:38

Gove would be my preference. Never vote for Boris or JRM, far to posh and complete nutters anyway!
Unfortunately Gove didn't do himself any favours last time with Boris though. But I always feel he answers directly and is a very good orator.
DH feels Andrea Leadson has come out well as leader of the house and he would like her.

HeyCarrieAnneWhatsYourGame · 27/03/2019 22:47

Or Michael Gove. Overall I think Gove will be best.

Said Coppersulphate and literally no one else, ever.

Figmentofmyimagination · 27/03/2019 22:54

Justin Greening would be a way better leader than any of these tw*ts.

otterturk · 27/03/2019 22:56

I would 100% support Gove

HeyCarrieAnneWhatsYourGame · 27/03/2019 23:13

Sorry, I stand corrected.... said Coppersulphate and otterurk and Michael Gove’s mum ..... and literally no one else, ever.

Coppersulphate · 27/03/2019 23:21

I did not say....I stand corrected.
I would be happy with Boris, JRM or Michael Gove. However, overall I think Michael Gove would be best. And I will vote for him.

themueslicamel · 27/03/2019 23:23

I would rather dig up and elect Jimmy Savile's corpse than have Gove, that treacherous toadying little backstabbing lickspittle.

Figmentofmyimagination · 27/03/2019 23:24

How could anyone in their right mind support Michael gove as PM? The world has gone mad.

jessicawessica · 27/03/2019 23:25

David Davis

Figmentofmyimagination · 27/03/2019 23:26

Omg can you imagine a world in which you wake up every morning and Andrea Leadsome is PM?

greathat · 28/03/2019 09:17

Assume people wanting Gove aren't in education. The complete fucking mess he made there would suggest letting him run the country would be disastrous

Fresta · 28/03/2019 09:37

I'm not a Tory voter usually, but bloody hell- after Gove's track record as education secretary he'd be my worst nightmare. In fact- all of the prospective candidates fill me with dread. Corbyn would be equally nightmarish.

Just as an aside- after a quick google of a few of the tory suggestions- why do they all seem to look so old beyond their years?

Andrea leadsom is only 55- look at her wrinkles!
Jacob Rees-Mogg is only 49!
Gove is only 55!
Only Boris looks reasonably young for his age.

DioneTheDiabolist · 28/03/2019 09:46

Betcha it'll end up being Chris Grayling.

MeganBacon · 28/03/2019 10:56

I hope the contest is opened up to new names who have not already served in cabinet. Rory Stewart maybe although I have no idea if he wants the job.

I could never support Boris and joined the Conservative party about five months ago purely so I can vote for anyone other than him if he is one of the two left at the end. I will end my membership once that vote is over. He lacks discipline and integrity.
Jrm does not want the job but I am sick of hearing about disaster capitalism and his fund in Dublin which are like urban myths. I like odd people in general not as a pm but I always find his contributions to the overall debate interesting, except for his stance on abortion which is wrong but driven by religion and as such belongs strictly outside political debate in my view.
I don’t mind Raab and think Gove is probably the cleverest and we will need that.

Drizzlehair · 28/03/2019 11:55

How do people think jrm religious views impact on making huge profits from selling abortion pills in other, poorer countries? I find it hard to believe any god would think abortion is wrong in all cases but its fine to make money by selling abortion pills to people.

I think religious views should be kept outside politics and probably business generally speaking too. He has not made ‘huge’ profits although his investors may have done, so the link is weak but exists nonetheless. He should be consistent and accept that when his voting record on abortion is extreme, these inconsistencies will be closely scrutinised and not reflect well on him. But that’s all really.

ClariceCliffe · 29/03/2019 07:49

I'm a Labour voter but DH is Conservative.
He likes Dominic Raab, but thinks Gove or Johnson will get it.
