Now 12th April?

Have I got this right? If MPs don't agree to TM deal then we leave on 12th April with no deal? Why would they vote for her deal when she's openly criticised the lot of them and effectively blamed them?

Also, is there likely to be disruption on 12th April if this happens? I fly to the canaries that day!! Confused

No, if the WA&PD gets voted down again, EU27 have agreed to an unconditional delay to April 12th to give the UK time to decide between:

  1. Revoke
  2. No-deal on 12th April
  3. Longer extension based on a plan to do something e.g. referendum, general election, negotiate a much softer deal. This would mean that MEP elections would take place in the UK.
They are being very generous and also making it explicitly the UK government’s decision rather than an accidental no-deal or decision by the EU27.

It’s an absolute mess! TM is a remainer so I’m not surprised she has fucked it all up.

TheNumberfaker · 22/03/2019 13:54

TM was a remainer...

Not sure she really was a remainer, as I've mentioned before. She may have voted to remain for economic reasons but she's definitely no fan of FoM. On the other hand it could have been a case of do as I say, not as I do, like Barclay. Say one thing and vote another.

I'm at the stage i just don't care anymore, i'm fed up of it all, those politicians are like a bunch of kid's i don't think i'll vote again unless Nicola Sturgeon gets to hold another independence referendum, can't bear the thought of SNP running an independent Scotland.

prettybird · 22/03/2019 14:58

The SNP won't necessarily run an independent Scotland Confused

We would have, you know, elections Shock and people could vote for who the hell they liked Grin

It might mean the re-invention of both a true Scottish Labour Party and a re-invigorated "One Nation" (as in society) Conservative Party. The LibDems might become more relevant too. And we already have a Scottish Green Party.

Personally, I think the SNP may well fracture post-independence, as its members/supporters can then choose to support other Scottish parties, now that independence has been achieved.

It's called democracy Wink

PrawnOfCreation · 22/03/2019 20:06

Careful @prettybird you came across as reasonable and logical there. Don't you know SNP bad?! Wink You're spot on though.

I did laugh at the idea of the LibDems being relevant, but that's my bias showing.

prettybird · 22/03/2019 21:41

I was being charitable Grin and I did say "might" Wink

They gave the date 12th April because the UK has to decide by April 11th if they want to take part in EU elections. So they can extend if they can show that they have a reason to do so (GE or peoples vote or another plan) but would have to take part.
