Brexit

Rovoke then let people decide with a GE

Soz I'm hogging the Brexit board here but have been doing a lot of thinking.

Surely the best course of action would be to revoke A50, may resigns (Rudd prob becomes PM) GE is called in which parties stand on Brexit-related manifestos. Rudds would be norway++, corbyn would be equiclvalent of remaining but with no say, libs, IndG, Green, SNP Remain.

Then whoever gets the majority is the way forward.

...prob would just be hung parliament again wouldn't it Confused

If we had a GE, neither cons or labour would stand on a remain platform. Under first past the post, realistically only those 2 parties have a shot of getting a majority and voting otherwise in most constituencies is a wasted vote. Therefore, a GE wouldn't resolve Brexit because half the country would feel disenfranchised. Also, frankly who knows what Labour's position on Brexit is. And both main parties are currently led by nutter fringe groups and if I had to vote now, I'm not sure I could bring myself to vote for anyone.

The worst thing for this country would be to revoke and remain it would cause massive unrest and yes people would start filtering in to UKIP because it’s just another example of people not been listened to and these organisations will flourish.

We have to leave. The government have to keep its word otherwise what’s the point in then being there or ever holding ballots again.

TM should never have been tasked with the role of sorting this mess out as she was ultimately a remainer. So it’s not surprising she has fucked up. Fuck knows what’s she’s been doing for the last two years.

No deal is better than a fucking terrible deal.

Angry I agree with your whole post

*Why didn't remainers vote lib Dems in the last election!

It beggars belief but I suppose this last minute panicking is par for the course.*

I did, for what it was worth, but in the FPTP system, it was a wasted vote.

@having@bellini

Leave voter here who would take WA over No Deal

HateIsNotGood · 23/03/2019 18:11

Meant to really say - what on earth good would a GE do? Just play as a team (with TM as captain) to get either a suitably-amended WA or HoC to agree an 'exception' to the Not Again Rule and push it through. So what if Leaving takes the next 20 years? Ok, maybe 10 years....

TM can then resign (I'm sure quite voluntarily) and the UK Electorate can then redefine it's political landscape, structures and democracy.

countrygirl99 · 23/03/2019 18:17

But who would you vote for in a GE. Both the main parties are deeply divided and at the moment both leaders will be regarded as unelectable by many. Neither of the main parties are currently a home for Remain voters. The Lib Dems are tiny and Vince Cable hasn't the leadership qualities to improve that.

TheresWaldo · 23/03/2019 18:36

I am traditionally a Lib Dem voter. I looked at my constituency which has an overwhelming Tory majority, saw that UKIP got more than the LibDems and voted Labour. Nothing will change til we get PR. Sad

Post the start of 'Brexit', I would like to see a reconfiguration of our politics - ideally I would like to see an end to Party Politics - Parliament completely made up of MPs that represented the majority of their Constituents and 'acted' in Parliament according to their Constituency.

Meanwhile, I might vote for a 'bridging' Party, with a manifesto based on the end of Party Politics. It's an approach that appears to have had some success, so let's take that 'approach' and form a New Thing.
