Brexit and Social Media

Has anyone changed their minds on Brexit as a result of reading threads on Mumsnet or other social media? If not, is there any point to these arguments?

The only point is that there is a right and wrong here.

There is undeniable proof that Brexit will make us worse off.

There is undeniable proof that we could have controlled immigration without resorting to this.

There is undeniable proof that any perceived benefits of Brexit are nothing more than soundbites.

But no, in reality there’s really no point because those who believe in Brexit would believe the sky was pink if you told them it was.

I've changed insofar as I would grudgingly accept WA as the least worst version of Leave.
One of my FB "friends " is a No Dealer and keeps posting shite to that effect. Which I ignore. Although I do save her posts so that I have a record.

I don't discuss things on social media to try to change people's minds, I don't think that that's 'the point'.

I discuss things to clarify my own ideas, and because I'm interested in other people's ideas and perspectives (whether I agree or not).

That’s an interesting point@Anxiety. I just feel that so many of these Brexit threads are made up of a small number of prolific posters (are they even individuals?) repeating the same points over and over again. I get the impression that everyone talks past each other and that there is no real interaction.

The primary effect of most social media coverage has been to cause depression because of people’s intolerance of each other’s views.

Regardless of which side anyone is on, we live in a decent, generally tolerant society, and the nastiness that people think is acceptable (because they are anonymous and can get away with it) is vile and depressing.
