I was under the impression that no deal is the table
It’s the default - if the government do nothing we crash out without a deal

No. No Deal is still the default position as the European Union have to agree to any extension and France / Spain are not happy to do this for no reason. They might demand something changes.

However an extension is now more likely as the Cooper Amendement passed. See F in attached article with regard to the Cooper Amendment to 'Ensure no backtracking' on vote to Article 50 extension With cross-party support, the Labour Party's Yvette Cooper tabled an amendment to ensure that May's commitment to a mid-March "meaningful vote" remained firm.

By the way the (K) Amendment in the article which was proposed by the SNP to rule out No Deal didn't pass.
