Brexit

Prepping for MNers in the EU

As it appears increasingly likely that we're facing a no deal fucking Brexit clusterfuck, what prepping are MNers who live in the EU27 doing?

I have

  • changed my driver license to a local licence
  • renewed my passport ahead of time as it expired next year and I was worried about getting to 6 months before expiry soon. Don't want there to be any admin hassles when I need to apply for whatever visa etc is necessary in my country.
  • Lobbied my employer to protect me and my rights in the case of No Deal
  • Registered to vote in the European elections. I know I probably won't be eligible by then Sad but I figure it's a paper trail that shows my desire to remain here and be an EU citizen.
  • stocked up on Yorkshire Tea Grin
  • ordered any large items I wanted this year from the UK already, including books for my DC
  • avoiding all non-essential travel to the UK

Anything else?? I wasn't planning to stockpile prep like those in the UK will have to do, but more document/paperwork prep

Changed driver's licence years ago!
DH and DD have both applied for and received nationality/second passport, my dossier is following shortly.
Registered to vote in European elections.
Also stocked up on Yorkshire tea.
Imported a horse!

Sent off for a French driving licence 5 months ago but got it all back unprocessed yesterday with a letter saying my UK licence is 'OK' for now. Since I have to drive across several EU borders for work I am mildly concerned.
Passport has a couple of years to run and I have a 'paper, provisional' Carte de Sejour.

{Imported a horse!}. I think you are just showing off here!!

Grin 1tisILeClerc aye you spotted my not-so-stealth boast there! But I genuinely was trying to avoid higher import duties/transport hassles before 29th - honest!

My 'tipple' would be Tescos Scottish porridge oats, Sultanas and raisins and Marmite. Not really bothered about putting that much effort into getting them though although Marmite is darn expensive locally. A local (French) Anglophile does seriously good 'English' fish and chips in her bistro place on a Friday night. I might see if she would have a go at an Indian curry.

I wish I could get good Indian food closer than Heidelberg...

Did all the passport /driving licence stuff a while ago. Also applied for citizenship of my EU country. This has taken the longest as i had to first learn the language, then take language tests, then prepare a portfolio then have an interview, then finally make my application. I won't have the results /citizenship for at least 9 months, but so glad i started the ball rolling ages ago (3 months after the referendum), and also glad i have guaranteed residency for the next 18 months.

For those of you looking for cheddar - we have had Irish cheddar on the shelves alongside British cheddar for a while (Germany) although last week I noticed there was only Irish cheddar in one shop. And also Irish shortbread has made an appearance.

France here.

I have applied to exchange my driving licence and I'm hoping it will still be processed because I applied through the Paris préfecture rather than Nantes.

I'm going to London at the weekend and have got a same day appointment to renew my passport (but stressing that the chaos with Eurostar might mean I miss the appointment).

I have two appointments to get a Titre de Séjour because I'm moving house soon so covering my bases. If I manage to get one at my appointment in Yvelines (I won't be living there yet but I explained the situation and they agreed to give me an appointment) then I will cancel the later one in Paris.

Not making any travel plans after this weekend.

Anything else I need to do?
