Astounding
it appears he'd not realised before that Dover-Calais is rather a "bottleneck"
something to do with us being an "Island" - unlike the rest of the major single market parties
How on EARTH does the government think that letting such stuff get filmed helps their case ?

It’s truly horrifying isn’t it.

bellinisurge · 08/11/2018 21:42

Let's hope it means he will plead with Brexshit MPs to support whatever crap deal they come up with using what little credibility he has left with them.

Peregrina · 08/11/2018 23:34

I knew that Britain was an island when I was 8.
You have to wonder what their expensive schooling taught them. I won't call it education because it clearly wasn't.

DGRossetti · 09/11/2018 08:14

Over 2 million followers worldwide of Prof. Brian Cox followed this little gem of idiocy. Even my DB in the US had colleagues (they're all scientists) commenting ... "... and we're told Americans geography is bad ..."

It really isn't a great advertisement abroad.

Staringcoat · 09/11/2018 08:17

Dear God. If you saw the TV clip of it, he didn't even seem embarrassed by his own stupidity and incompetence. Woeful. Just woeful.

Lottapianos · 09/11/2018 08:20

Every time you think you have hit peak jaw dropping Brexit horror show, turns out there's still worse to come. What a complete and utter gold plated muppet, and he didn't even have the wit to keep his stupidity to himself

Peregrina · 09/11/2018 08:24

Just looked up Raab on wikipedia. His father was a czech born refugee from the Nazis, who came to England in 1938. I am almost speechless that someone from that sort of background can even belong in a party, never mind a government, which creates a very hostile environment for immigrants and talks about citizens of nowhere. As well as being clueless about geography, he should be hanging his head in shame at those policies.

borntobequiet · 09/11/2018 08:26

Someone should collate these stupefying blunders. Worth revisiting the ignorance of Karen Bradley:

Agree with Born. Maybe a new thread where only links or clips of the nonsense are posted, to keep it concise? To include clips of MPs that even at this late stage are STILL spouting material that has been proven to be untrue. Brexit 'wall of shame'? Welsh Tory MP Andrew Davies for one.

Peregrina · 09/11/2018 08:43

What did Andrew Davies say?

Helmetbymidnight · 09/11/2018 08:44

Embarrassing. What a twat. Typical brexiteer.

Peregrina · 09/11/2018 08:45

Good idea though, and when a Leaver bobs up to say that they always knew it would be difficult, or we always said we were leaving the Single Market, point them to the thread where the easiest deals in history were talked about.....

Peregrina
I commented on it yesterday, it was about the Welsh First Minister saying that devolved parliament that takes Brussels instructions at present would get clawed back by Westminster rather than going to Wales. AD was spouting about 'sovereignty' and other bits that we know aren't true, justifying it going to Westminster not Wales.
DGR has started a 'Euromyths' thread. The EC website even has a 'Euromyths' section which has references to where the 'myth' was published.
With this thought in mind, it suggests there will be a heck of a 'dossier' somewhere of all the crap that UK politicians have been saying.
I am getting a vision of the EU leaders watching Mr Raab's 'discovery' of Dover/Calais on a loop, while they laugh like the 'space aliens' on the Cadburys Smash advert.

I doubt they are that involved ... making it even more cringeworthy. Itr's like fluffing your lines in the school play, only to discover none of your mates saw it, as they were doing something more exciting.

Helmetbymidnight · 09/11/2018 12:48

So a Brexit minister doesn't understand Brexit.

And the Northern Ireland secretary doesn't understand Northern Ireland.

What a surprise.

1tisILeClerc · 09/11/2018 13:03

And Mrs May is so busy turning on her merrygoround you can't believe anything she says, however clear she attempts to claim it might be (at that moment).
You know how the 'World at War' series on TV (Yesterday/Dave/whichever channel) seems to be on repeat. There will be a 'mix tape' of Brexit bullshit which can have a channel all to itself to play for all eternity.

Helmetbymidnight · 09/11/2018 13:21

There’s a new crowd finder for a private prosecution of the liar Johnson...

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 09/11/2018 17:54

When Raab was appointed Brexit minister I was talking to someone whose close friend had worked with him years ago. He had expressed incredulity that Raab had the job as he was apparently ‘a nice enough chap but not very bright.’

Though I have to say, he doesn’t seem very nice...

Yaralie · 12/11/2018 19:30

Neither nice nor bright
