I've been on a facebook group this evening. A national newspaper has stated that my local city (voted Brexit) are now starting to change their minds. Cue all the posters saying they haven't changed their minds, that the EU is corrupt and undemocratic , the sooner we're out the better, all the scaremongering hasn't happened (which to them obviously means this is all a good idea) etc. etc.

I asked what they saw would be the benefits? Loads of comments followed about remoaners needing to shut up, we voted... There was talk about sovereignty (although they didn't mention that word because I had asked them not to), how our MPs are voted for by us and should have the right to put our money where it's needed not building roads and universities.

Then this:
here is a short story for you, we’ll call it... ‘After the horse has bolted’ Once upon a time there was horse stuck in a paddock, going round and round in circles unable to run around in the big field outside. All his owners had a big debate about whether to keep him in the paddock, or let him out in the field, the pros and cons were discussed, many said he couldn’t survive by himself out in the field. So they had a vote and eventually they decided by a small margin to open the gate and let him out. As they were opening the gates some of the folk who didn’t want to let him go, tried to get in the way, which was really annoying as everyone agreed that they would vote on whether to let him go and abide by that decision. One girl called * just sat in the corner saying remind me again, why should we let him go. No one answered her, and she said that was because there were no good reasons.....

There's just no answer to that!

time4chocolate there seem to be saner, more intelligent people here than were on that facebook discussion!

In fact, since starting to read these Brexit threads I've learnt a great deal. Or at least enough to know that I don't know much at all!

Apols OP but either you have your head up your preverbrial or you are just trying to put a misleading stupid analogy out there that justifies the unjustifiable when most of us have simply asked....please give us 1 good reason to leave....horse in a a field FFS!

Lovetosinglalala123 · 09/10/2018 22:25

Daddybegood I hope I am neither. I copied and pasted what a brexiteer had written in response to my asking them to name a benefit. The reason I posted here was that I was just speechless at the analogy.

Ok love to ..apols for being accusing but their post was verging on romantic delusion but deeply deceptive, pretty much like the 2016 leave campaign. Why would you bother reposting such shit

leavers need to be held to their actions

WTF does that imply??

Given how unbelievably badly brexit negotiations have been going my own analogy of Brexit is like the example of a surgeon who starts amputating a leg before he realises he is amputating the wrong leg but says " I may as well carry on amputating the wrong leg because I've already started now"

That sums up up the tragic ridiculousness of pushing forward with Brexit to me!
