Ideas for banners/placards/signs at 23rd June March?

Thought it might be nice to have a place to store up ideas, particularly from those who maybe can't make it, of what we can put on signs? Personally, I like the United We Stand Divided We Fall and Jo Cox reminiscent - but I would also like some humour. It's a sh*tstorm so I'm sure the vipers can come up with some corkers!
Any suggestions?

The UK representatives at the EU helped create many of the 'rules' that the EU is using so it is not a 'them versus us ' situation, we were part of 'them'. Although I don't know the full history of the setting up of the EU, it was certainly the UK, France, Germany and several others who set the foundation stones and would have had equal opportunity to veto or modify any policy.
The appalling 'governance' by all UK political parties since then is not the responsibility of the EU and it may be that as the European Parliament has been seen as a bit of a gravy train and a 'marginal activity' by UK politicians (and MEPs) we have not been debating and negotiating robustly enough for many years. IF MEPs have been 'down the pub' and missed out on important debates within the EU discussions it is not the 'fault' of the EU.
The EU is being tough, which it needs to be. At the outset WE were part of the team that made it be so. Now it is starting to 'bite' us.

It's maybe not a world survey but I do interact with people all over the world on a daily basis and, when the subject of Brexit comes up, I've yet to hear anything positive from any of my colleagues.

They all think we've lost our minds.

Voting to leave was one thing but the absolute shambles we have made of attempting to do so is downright embarrassing.

"internationally acclaimed worldly wise doom mongerer Bear knows Best" not quite as punchy though

twofingerstoEverything · 09/06/2018 10:13

the death knell has rung for democracy and the established monied elite win over the people you must be so proud.
This is such a fucking, stupid comment. Are people really still banging on and trying to pretend that remainers are elite and that leavers are just the poor underdogs? Sheldon needs to think a bit more critically, rather than shouting out the same, tired old slogans. Cast your eyes around, Sheldon, and see how many established monied people are fighting to leave the EU: BoJo, Farage, JRM, the Barclay Brothers, Dacre, Aron Banks, James Dyson etc etc ad nauseum. Ask yourself, what's in it for them and what's in it for ordinary UK citizens?

54321go · 09/06/2018 10:15

In the bizarre life I have had recently I spoke briefly to a person who worked at the EU until a few years ago. His 'summary' was roughly, 'what the hell are you thinking?'.
The UK has struggled at the first couple of hurdles, how many decades will it take to unravel the last 40 or more years work of 'integration'?
Although entirely superficial there is a strange feeling about 'Yes Schengen' when popping over the border between European countries at 110kph where the main difference is the colour of the tarmac.

bearbehind · 09/06/2018 10:18

infinite- you and your fellow Leavers aren't doing much to convince anyone that actually you know best.

In fact, everything that comes out just proves Remainers are justified in thinking they know best.

Be embarrassed to be the pig in this dystopia Twofingers but at least own it

surferjet · 09/06/2018 10:29

twofingerstoEverything

The vast, vast, majority of people in power/ politics are ‘monied people’ - so of course both sides will have members of the ‘elite’ - that’s bleedin’ obvious.
Do you think all leave supporting MP’s should be former milkmen or cleaners to have credibility? Just because you went to the right school & own half of Berkshire doesn’t mean you’re a total dick. ‘Monied people’ can have principles.
It’s just your ‘elite’ think they know best, and are doing their best to frustrate a democratic decision & put the plebs back in their place.

What bastards.

time4chocolate · 09/06/2018 10:42

Surfer - they still don’t get it.

Be embarrassed to be the pig in this dystopia Twofingers but at least own it

Absolutely this ^^

Bear - it’s not about convincing you that ‘I know best’ it’s about respecting that everyone’s vote is equal regardless of people’s background/social class.

twofingerstoEverything · 09/06/2018 10:44

Do you think all leave supporting MP’s should be former milkmen or cleaners to have credibility?
No, but I think should have been able to come up with ONE incontrovertible argument about how we will benefit from leaving in order to have credibility. But here we are... almost two years after the vote and still unable to come up with any positivity (see government's own impact reports etc...)

Be embarrassed to be the pig in this dystopia Twofingers but at least own it I think sheldon is speaking in tongues now, because I haven't got a fucking clue what this is supposed to mean. Is it meant to be enigmatic?

twofingerstoEverything · 09/06/2018 10:45

time4 you seem to understand what Sheldon meant, given your 'absolutely this' comment. Care to elucidate?

twofingerstoEverything · 09/06/2018 10:46

...in particular, what 'dystopia' is being referred to? And why is there a pig in it? Is this some kind of Animal Farm reference?

time4chocolate · 09/06/2018 10:52

Yes

surferjet · 09/06/2018 10:53

I know time4chocolate - it’s like talking to a brick wall talking to this lot. They’re fanatics & that’s all there is to it.

I’m embarrassed for them. Unpaid EU skivvies fighting for what exactly?

easier border crossings for orchestras?

Hardly Nelson Mandela stuff.

Childrenofthesun · 09/06/2018 10:54

How did we ever manage before we joined the EU ( only a few decades ago )

So frustrating to hear this still being trotted out. It may only be a few decades but the world has changed beyond recognition, the internet, air travel have all created a much more linked up world. The way trade, manufacturing, business, finance etc is conducted has moved on. A lot is done at a global level, even more at a regionalised level. This argument doesn't wash. The rest of the world is not stepping back to where it was 40 years ago, just us.

But back to the question, I am considering making my first placard. Might have to borrow an existing slogan, but what are the best materials for a novice to use?

InfiniteSheldon · 09/06/2018 11:29

You could use the wood from our fishing fleet ask Bob for tips on dealing with fishermen

bearbehind · 09/06/2018 11:46

it’s not about convincing you that ‘I know best’ it’s about respecting that everyone’s vote is equal regardless of people’s background/social class.

What you are spectacularly failing to understand, as most Leavers also fail to, it was always about much more than the vote.

The vote just expressed your preference but if it can’t actually happen in practice it’s pointless.

The problem is the complete lack of any feasible plan for actually leaving and Leavers still just think it will miraculously materialise simply because they want it to.

54321go · 09/06/2018 13:29

Going back to the placard theme, how about 'Please help'?

bionicnemonic · 09/06/2018 13:33

The vote just expressed your preference but if it can’t actually happen in practice it’s pointless.
Perfect

time4chocolate · 09/06/2018 15:08

The vote just expressed your preference......😂😂

You could put that on a placard I suppose.

twofingerstoEverything · 10/06/2018 08:23

Going back to the banners... How about:

'Brexit: brought to you by sleazy liars' with pictures of Banks, Farage, Johnson, etc.
or 'Respect the will of the Russians'
'Eton Mess'
'Disunited Kingdom'

InfiniteSheldon · 10/06/2018 13:19

"We believe in Project Fear'
"Our lies are bigger than your lies"
"You don't count"

If you voted leave, what are the top 3 or 4 'pledges' that persuaded you to vote leave?
Was it more money into the NHS, reduction of permitted immigrants or???
