For the sake of the economy whoever ends up actually doing the negotiations with Europe needs to aim for being in the single market, and because of that we will have to accept freedom of movement of labour, continue to be subject to European rules and regulations, and the European courts of justice.
Which means that the leave voters will have basically voted for the status quo, but without our veto. Europe is going to make this very hard for us.
But I'd choose single market over restricted immigration any day.
