.....Scotland subsequently leaves the UK is that a small price to pay for winning or would it have made you change your mind?

WordGetsAround · 24/06/2016 20:46

I wouldn't change my Leave vote. I don't think Scotland will leave, but if they want to, I won't really mind.

MidnightAura · 24/06/2016 20:48

Not every Scottish person wants to be in the EU.

SouperSal · 24/06/2016 20:51

Don't need them all to though. Just 51%. Wink

0phelia · 24/06/2016 20:55

I think a lot of English people voting Leave would like scottish Independence.

bertsdinner · 24/06/2016 20:55

It wouldn't have changed my vote. I would like the union to stay together, but if the Scots have another referendum and vote to split, its upto them.

DigestiveBiscuit · 24/06/2016 20:58

I couldn't care less if Scotland leaves! After Scottish MPs voted for tuition fees in England, while voting against them for their own students, I'd prefer them to have no say at Westminster!

PicInAttic · 24/06/2016 21:03

I voted leave but would not vote Ukip to answer above poster.

I read a lot from both sides too and tried to ignore the press headline reasons but, although everything told me 'leave' was right choice for future, the fact that it put me in same camp as Farage, Gove and Johnson almost convinced me to abstain.

(Would have had to go and spoil my ballot paper though as couldn't just not vote!)

Sunshineonacloudyday · 24/06/2016 21:06

I voted remain so my conscience is clear. The poor will suffer the most.

GloGirl · 24/06/2016 21:10

I voted leave and never in my life have I voted UKIP and nor would I.

SanityClause · 24/06/2016 21:14

I've been looking at houses and jobs in Edinburgh today. I'm seriously considering moving there, while its still part of the U.K., so I have a better chance of staying in the EU.

(I have no Irish ancestry, and I'm not British, so NI is not an option for me, although there's quite a lot of speculation about the re-unification of Ireland, too, which might work for some.)

SanityClause · 24/06/2016 21:14

The poor will suffer the most.

Don't they always?

purits · 24/06/2016 21:16

When I was considering how to vote, I read pretty much everything I could find, both online and elsewhere and on both sides of the argument. I came to the conclusion that Leave was best for the country and to be honest what Scotland or NI would or would not do did not affect that decision.

This.

LadyIncuntliaButtock · 24/06/2016 21:16

However I dont think scotland will leave the UK, its too dependant on English welfare.

Any facts underlining that spurious argument, or just repeating what you've been told by the media? Angry

fryingtoday · 24/06/2016 21:17

The Scottish will decide what's best for them, just as we have. No problem.

NataliaOsipova · 24/06/2016 21:18

I've said this on another thread, but do the electoral maths....if Scotland leaves the Uk we will more likely than not have a Conservative government for ever more. Not sure that's what the folks in the Labour heartlands knew that was what they were voting for....

Hiddenaspie1973 · 24/06/2016 21:19

No I would not vote for ukip.

RortyCrankle · 24/06/2016 21:23

SinisterBumFacedCat
Those of you who voted Leave would you vote UKIP in the next General Election?

Absolutely not. Never have and never will vote UKIP, I am a Conservative voter.

incywincybitofa · 24/06/2016 21:23

I don't live in Scotland, and I am not Scottish, their independence question was asked once and nearly tore their country in half, now they may do it again.
I think Nicola Sturgeon has been honest and clear in her manifesto to the people, if you vote for me/for us I will push for another referendum if the UK votes to leave the EU, the people of Scotland chose her, on a moderate turn out they overwhelmingly voted remain, so I do think they will now have to choose, and we have to respect their choice.

London's push for independence I am a bit more Hmm about

Sounds good to me Grin

I think you might find that if UKIP do well at the next election, their support will likely come from traditional labour supporters.

incywincybitofa · 24/06/2016 21:28

I wouldn't vote UKIP and I am hopeful this ends Nigel's time in politics.
I am also hopeful that this tames the BNP bulldog that has been growing bigger on a diet of resentment in the corner.
I think those who voted on immigration and only immigration are about to find out that Leave was and is bigger and tougher to support than that. We now all have to pull our weight going forwards whatever was voted in the referendum because this country cannot fail and it will be up to all of us to make sure it doesn't.

Chris1234567890 · 24/06/2016 21:41

No, Scotland's position has no bearing on my vote either. I will say though, it's a huge mistake to assume a Scottish vote for remain is a Scottish vote for independence. (I've just posted this elsewhere but it's equally relevant here).

There's 2 problems with that logic.
1/ Is Nigel Farage stupid enough to think that overnight he and UKIP have gained half the populous vote? No,he isn't, as obviously, no he hasn't.
Is Nicola Sturgeon? Yes she is.

And 2/ it utterly relies on an EU (as you understand it to be) being in existence at the time of a new indy Referendum .....

So in response to the 'Scotland' question...... Will they thank us for securing a balanced, stable exit pre EU 'out of control' break up? Probably not. But I'm Happy for Scotland to decide for themselves.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 24/06/2016 21:44

And what about if London leaves?

claig · 24/06/2016 21:49

No it wouldn't have changed my mind. It is up to the Scots what they want to do.

'And what about if London leaves?'

It can't leave, it is part of England.

Chattymummyhere · 24/06/2016 21:49

London can't leave its in the middle of England do you really see the queen giving it up wow!!

I don't care what the scots do and shock horror I could get a Scottish passport.

Lighteningirll · 24/06/2016 21:51
