I voted at 8am this morning. Job done!

Everybody get out and vote!

OP posts:
Natsku · 23/06/2016 09:58

Sent in my postal vote ages ago. Can't wait until this is over.

shinytorch2 · 23/06/2016 09:58

Shout!

Agree - everyone get out and vote. My polling station had queues - fantastic to see.

If nothing else this referendum has engaged people in politics.

Voted before the school run so my son could see what it was all about - he was excited this morning singing 'we're off to vote, we're off to vote ...' - he was very disappointed by the whole thing and claims 'well, that wasn't very exciting' .... but he is only 5yrs.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 23/06/2016 10:04

Voted about an hour ago, no queues but I spotted a few others on the street heading to the polls (so maybe a little busier than normal - normally it's a tumbleweed situation).

I did notice they had signs up saying if you're in the queue at 10pm you will still get a ballot paper and be able to vote (which they haven't put up before here) so they're obviously expecting big numbers.

scaryteacher · 23/06/2016 10:06

Postal proxy went in days ago.

BeingClea · 23/06/2016 10:06

Yup, voted by post a couple of weeks ago.

Gizlotsmum · 23/06/2016 10:07

Voted

MrsHathaway · 23/06/2016 10:10

Postal.

Hoping for high turnout. Find it ironic that people think EU is undemocratic when only about 20% or something bother to vote for their MEP.

LunaLoveg00d · 23/06/2016 10:11

Yes, have been across to teh polling station this morning. DH voted before he went to work.

Vagndidit · 23/06/2016 10:16

I took DS in with me on the way to school this morning. Local polling station is just across the road and there's quite a scrum for parking in my area. Haven't seen that happen for any election so far, so turnout likely to be impressive.

eyebrowse · 23/06/2016 10:25

Yes - much busier than normal at the polling station

RortyCrankle · 23/06/2016 10:37

I voted earlier and was the only person there.

Tenpastlate · 23/06/2016 10:51

Just been.

There was a bit of an altercation between 2 old men (think Brian Blessed & retired doctor type)
Man 1 (BB) : Vote IN!
Man 2: what? why? Don't tell me how to vote!
Man 1 : Vote IN, all of you!
Man 2 : Don't tell me how to vote
Man 1 : OH, STICK IT UP YOUR BLOODY ARSE!!

Made my morning!

Natsku · 23/06/2016 11:28

Grin a vote up the arse won't count for much!

This bloody referendum is even infecting my dreams (by the way, in my dream the result was Remain if anyone wants to make any last minute bets in the hope that my dreams are prophetic)

chunkymum1 · 23/06/2016 11:31

Like some PP, I went on the way to school with my DS. He has been learning about the election at school (primary) so I thought it would be interesting for him to see how voting works. This election seems to have got people talking about serious issues which must be a good thing, whatever the outcome.

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 23/06/2016 11:33

Voted first thing this morning.

Poll station quiet except for a gaggle of Glastonbury-bound young things in eye wateringly bright running tights and clashing wellies

YourPerception · 23/06/2016 11:34

Are you wanting to compile an exit poll? I

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 23/06/2016 11:39

Yup. After the school run

Grumpysfirstwife · 23/06/2016 11:44

I've voted, it was packed. Shock

I've never had to queue before to vote so I was quite surprised at the number of people waiting.
The Clerk said that its been busy since 7 am and they usually expect it to peak around tea time.

juneau · 23/06/2016 11:47

Voted at 10am after my DS's French Assembly. The French teacher apologised for the timing and said she obviously wasn't trying to sway anyone Grin. But then at the end one of the other teachers thanked her and said 'I'm certainly feeling very European right now', so I guess her bias were obvious!

Polling station was positively bustling and more were arriving as I left. I've never seen it so lively.

FlaviaAnsell · 23/06/2016 11:49

I went about half an hour ago. Very quiet, but it normally is around midday.

My polling station is in my local school hall, and I always like seeing their displays. This time there was one about all the people who make up the school community - dinner ladies, office staff, music teachers, and so on.

P1nkP0ppy · 23/06/2016 11:51

Voted 7am, walked to the village hall and back so feeling rather virtuous 😊, that's 15,600 steps done by 9 o'clock! now I'm pooped
Halo

ShelaghTurner · 23/06/2016 11:55

Yep straight after school run. Swung by home, collected DH and dd2 and skipped into the polling booth like something out of the Waltons. Much as this has driven me mad, there is something very satisfying about voting.

I voted on the way back from nursery run. Me and one other chap. A civilised nod and 'good morning' in and out, bob's your mum's brother.
