This can't be good for us.

Cadbury moved factory to Poland 2011 with EU grant.
Ford Transit moved to Turkey 2013 with EU grant.
Jaguar Land Rover has recently agreed to build a new plant in Slovakia with EU grant, owned by Tata,
Peugeot closed its Ryton (was Rootes Group) plant and moved production to Slovakia with EU grant.
British Army's new Ajax fighting vehicles to be built in SPAIN using SWEDISH steel at the request of the EU to support jobs in Spain with EU grant, rather than Wales.
Dyson gone to Malaysia, with an EU loan.
Crown Closures, Bournemouth (Was METAL BOX), gone to Poland with EU grant, once employed 1,200.
M&S manufacturing gone to far east with EU loan.
Hornby models gone. In fact all toys and models now gone from UK along with the patents all with with EU grants.
Gillette gone to eastern Europe with EU grant.
Texas Instruments Greenock gone to Germany with EU grant.
Indesit at Bodelwyddan Wales gone with EU grant.
Sekisui Alveo said production at its Merthyr Tydfil Industrial Park foam plant will relocate production to Roermond in the Netherlands, with EU funding.
Hoover Merthyr factory moved out of UK to Czech Republic and the Far East by Italian company Candy with EU backing.
ICI integration into Holland’s AkzoNobel with EU bank loan and within days of the merger, several factories in the UK, were closed, eliminating 3,500 jobs
Boots sold to Italians Stefano Pessina who have based their HQ in Switzerland to avoid tax to the tune of £80 million a year, using an EU loan for the purchase.
JDS Uniphase run by two Dutch men, bought up companies in the UK with £20 million in EU 'regeneration' grants, created a pollution nightmare and just closed it all down leaving 1,200 out of work and an environmental clean-up paid for by the UK tax-payer. They also raided the pension fund and drained it dry.
UK airports are owned by a Spanish company.
Scottish Power is owned by a Spanish company.
Most London buses are run by Spanish and German companies.
The Hinkley Point C nuclear power station to be built by French company EDF, part owned by the French government, using cheap Chinese steel that has catastrophically failed in other nuclear installations. Now EDF say the costs will be double or more and it will be very late even if it does come online.
Swindon was once our producer of rail locomotives and rolling stock. Not any more, it's Bombardier in Derby and due to their losses in the aviation market, that could see the end of the British railways manufacturing altogether even though Bombardier had EU grants to keep Derby going which they diverted to their loss-making aviation side in Canada.
39% of British invention patents have been passed to foreign companies, many of them in the EU
The Mini cars that Cameron stood in front of as an example of British engineering, are built by BMW mostly in Holland and Austria. His campaign bus was made in Germany even though we have Plaxton, Optare, Bluebird, Dennis etc., in the UK. The bicycle for the Greens was made in the far east, not by Raleigh UK but then they are probably going to move to the Netherlands too as they have said recently.

The Bank of England is not "pretty much Osborne" and the CBI is not Cameron. Yet more misinformation and discounting information from anyone who disagrees with you.

Just on one thing, the loan for Ford is a bit of a red herring. They year before the loan was made the Turkish Factory made 185,000 Transit vans mostly for export into the EU, the Southampton factory made 28,000. The writing was on the wall.

Why are 1,280 of business leaders backing remain?

It's actually very dangerous to suggest that an independent British institution is in the chancellor's pocket, unless you have a better idea of how to run the BoE and who should be doing it.

It's like the nonsense spouted about vote tampering - a slur on British honesty and competence, from people who claim to have a high opinion of their country.

Mistigri · 22/06/2016 11:43

people saying millions of jobs will go if we leave, or food will go up

Has it occurred to you that people might have honest opinions based on evidence and analysis? If sterling tanks, then the price of imported goods such as food and fuel will go up. This is not rocket science, it is primary school arithmetic.

The impact on jobs will depend on what relationship with the EU is eventually negotiated, but it will not, under any imaginable scenario, be positive.

smallfox1980 · 22/06/2016 11:56

Mistri, I've been shocked at the number of attacks made on independent institutions because they don't come out in support of leaving.

There's another thread here where the leaders of the top universities are accused of wanting just more money or to continue on their "jollies" because they have warned of the risks to universities of leaving.

The Bank of England is castigated as not being independent except when they want to use its data on the effects of immigration on the low paid, then its fine.

The CBI is dismissed because it backed joining the euro, however James Dyson did too and he is lauded because he has come out as pro leave.

Basically the exit camp dismiss anyone who doesn't back their claims and casts about for anything that could possibly be used confirm that they are right. Confirmation bias at its best.

It is also why they are struggling to present a coherent arguments, we could be like Switzerland or Norway, but actually no cause we don't want the same terms as them. So then we're going to be like Canada, but no they don't have a deal on services. Then we're going to make deals quickly with using the WTO, but the WTO chief says we'd need to start from scratch and that deals take years.

There is no consistent argument, no balance provided, no real analysis of impacts completed.

Laughable really.

Grassgreendashhabi · 22/06/2016 14:57

Mistrial- has occurred that the remainers could have it wrong.

It's also very naive to the that these large British super powers are not in the pockets of government.

smallfox1980 · 22/06/2016 15:01

The government and the EU would have very little else to spend if it was bribing all of the businesses, organisations and institutions who are pro remain. Its a ridiculous accusation to make.

Hiddenaspie1973 · 22/06/2016 15:07

That's okay. U.K. Still has big pension pots which the E.U plan on raiding to provide pensions for Romanians etc if we stay in the E.U. True. Heard from an interpreter who works within the e.u meetings.

smallfox1980 · 22/06/2016 15:16

Oh of course that's true, I heard too that they're going to sell off the crown jewels so they can give everyone in Albania a car.

knottedwood · 22/06/2016 15:29

Leave has poured so much scorn on experts - experts who have spent their lives thinking about and becoming expert in their fields. Instead of listening to the arguments of experts, they suggest we should just listen to THEM.

Why would I do that?

BreakingDad77 · 22/06/2016 15:49

If your Leave but still want free trade then that means free movement, paying in, no rebate and no voting powers. So things probably wouldn't change costs wise that much to be honest. We would still need to follow the same rules when trading with european countries.

But if your leave and no free trade i/e WTO then I think its agreed that tarriffs would get applied to things effecting exporting and importing.

Again this would be down the line - time to enacting article 50 - 2 years sometime by which there could have been a run on the banks etc,

Mistigri · 22/06/2016 16:02

It begs the question which experts the new brexit government would rely on to set and implement government policy. Presumably they'd sack the BoE experts and install their own. Economists? Who needs them, buy a few magic 8 balls instead.

BreakingDad77 · 22/06/2016 16:55

Mistigri We are sadly in trump world where its all about feelings, building walls and pretending there is a simple solution to complex problems.

crankgirl · 24/06/2016 20:28

Seriously, has anyone bothered to fact check any of these statements? This blog entry refutes most of this codstwoddle and even provides links to sources (something the leave campaign seem religiously opposed to).

Another Brexit lie which led to the sorry state we're in. Interesting also to see claims that the Bank if England were scaremongering - do you still think that now? We were the EU; it was not some weird conspiracy out yo get us.

The EU did not give grants to move production from one country to another. There were some grants for new factories in deprived areas which the UK also benefitted from - or did. Leaving the EU does not stop grants to Slovakian factories, but it certainly stops them from British ones. Do all those people in Sunderland think Nissan were joking?

If only it wasn't so tragic.
