Out

I do though find it odd that the Scots would seek independence from Westminster, only to then throw their lot in with the EU. To my mind, sovereignty is either important to you, or it's not. An independent Scotland would have less say/influence in the affairs of the EU than a devolved Scotland does in the affairs of the UK.

National pride and sense of independence or a hatred for the English?

Okay.

I'm back to Remain.

I do a postal vote so thank god I've not sent it yet because I keep changing my mind.

I'm out. I found it very interesting how yesterday, Nicola Sturgeon stated that 40% of our exports are with the E.U. What she didn't bother to say is that we 'export' 4 times more to the rest of the U.K. £11.6 billion to U.E. and £47.6 billion to the rest of the U.K. (the most recent figures I can find but you get the idea) and that's not counting oil and gas of which half of our production goes to the rest of the U.K.
So the idea that we should become independent from the U.K. and become part of the E.U. on our own is just such a load of rubbish. Are we going to then pay export tariffs to send stuff to England! Please please don't be swayed by the threat of another Indy. referendum it's just complete and utter folly to think it better that we are with the E.U. than with the U.K.
We are not a net contributor to the E.U. budget on our own so why on earth would the rest of the E.U. want us?
There is no reason why farming and other rural areas that quite rightly get subsidies at the moment wouldn't get subsidies in the future from our own government, but in a much better more targeted way, to meet the needs of our own particular practices and types of rural living etc.

Out. English in Scotland, and baffled as to how Surgeon can be so vocal about independence from Britain yet so keen to be ruled by unelected bureaucrats in Brussels. I don't hear anyone talking about this.

The EU destroyed the fishing industry and towns local to me in NE Scotland

In. I work in life sciences and the industry will be in serious trouble if we leave the eu. Like a pp said the grant funding that comes from Europe is vital to research in Scotland, but it also supports a large number of smes. My company has set up an office in Europe just in case - we're small and if it's an out vote, a number of us will have the option of relocating.

I find it odd that people seem to think they're comparable (not just you mind, it's said a lot) they're not the same kind of union, not at all.

Brussels doesn't run the EU countries in the same way that Westminster runs the UK countries.

It's like asking what the point is of buying your council house when it's still on a council maintained road...well ok, not quite, lol, but it's the best I could do.

I would probably be an out, under different circumstances, it's a corrupt system and pretty damn undemocratic...but I don't want to vote to give the powers it has to our government, I don't trust them to handle them in a way that would be better.

I also think it's ridiculous, especially in the light of the discourse during the Scottish independence referendum that there's no real idea how it will work if it's an out vote.
