I ask because today he is saying that the EU is good for rich people, and he thinks we should come out so we can be kinder to the poor.

Have I somehow missed him campaigning over the last ten years old or so?

Has he been arguing against the EU Landowner's subsidies that pour into the estate he lives on?

Why have I never heard this before?

If he has changed his mind, he wouldn't be the first politician to do so!

I think he's right though. Just for example, the lobbying of the EU by large corporations to make the rules to suit them, rather than small businesses who can't afford lobbyists.

I'd also like to see Labour representing the working class, who are most likely to vote Brexit, rather than champagne socialists.

No. He hates the poor and has spent the last few years making life harder for them. He's a weird one tbh, don't trust him a bit.

If we look 5 years into the future we may well have a Labour government, while support for the far right grows in the EU as people become even more discontented.

I know somebody who has worked closely with him, she says he is a wonderful man who genuinely wants social reform to benefit society as whole including the poor and unwell. The changes we saw were only part of a grand reform he wanted to enact but were messed about by politicians and ended up doing the bad bits without the improvements. Using the analogy of you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs, the government broke the eggs, didn't make a nice omelette and left him in the firing line for blame

This woman is not rich and not a Tory, she worked with him professionally rather than because of shared politics but she thinks his resignation from government is a great loss to the country, which cannot be said for many politicians

Yes I can believe this. He doesn't come across as a confident speaker, but that doesn't mean his ideas aren't good. It's the smooth operators I'm more suspicious of.
