Hi just a quick one -

Am moving house and have quite a lot of used but unwanted bedlinen, towels, tea towels etc, some perfectly good, some a little worn.

Which charities need things like this? What would it be best to recycle?

Thanks for any advice to frazzled left it til the last minute idiot...

All the charity shops have linens sections. Might be worth phoning them up before taking them over, though, just in case that particluar one takes only curtains/towels/etc.

We moved house so suddenly that we didn't have a chance to have a clear-out before moving. As a result we were unpacking some crates straight into other boxes to take to charity shops!

if it isn't saleable you could try an animal rescue centre - my local one took blankets, pillows, duvets as well as sheets.

In our area we have a charity that gives furniture etc to people who have been homeless and get a flat - I think they also give them linens to get them started, as well as other household stuff.

Thanks for all those suggestions; I shall have to get sorting now, can't put it off any longer...

If you have no luck with those avenues, you could try Freecycle - people sometimes want old towels for pets/ drying garden furniture etc, or old linen to decorate the garden for gala-days (we still have them up here!)

My sons school PA uses a fundraising scheme called "Bags 2 School" to raise money. They are a business but donate to school according to weight collected. They take linen etc.

If the charity shops don't want it ring your local primary schools to see if they've got a collection coming up.
