Alternatives to plastic tableware

I am looking to reduce the amount of plastic that my baby boy eats off and with.
Does anyone have any suggestions of places to look for non plastic and non melamine tableware? He is really not ready for ceramics or anything breakable!
I have found some stuff from the States made of wood which is lovely but I would rather buy from the UK if possible.
Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in advance

You can get bamboo tableware - not sure how washable it is.

metal cutlery is pretty easy to find; what about stainless steel dishes? (thinking of little bowls for thalis or similar).

I'd look for hand turned wooden bowls & plates - I've bought them as presents for lots of babies & small children, they're not particularly expensive & are lovely to use. (Round here I'd expect to pay around £6 - £7 for a suitable bowl for a toddler, flat bottom with low sides.) They won't go in a dishwasher, but wash easily in normal washing up water.

A craft type shop would probably be the best place to look if you don't know of a nearby wood turner.

For cutlery, what about metal children's spoon/fork - dd has been given various sets of increasing size by gps, so I've never bought them, but I don't think they're too pricey.

(Unlike her weaning spoon which was a gift from a well off American friend, and is now safely tucked away for her babies if she has them - silver, from Tiffany's!!!)

Thank you both - thali dishes are a fab idea, I actually have a stack of these in the cupboard, can't believe I hadn't thought of using them!
I would like to get him wooden tableware so wil definitely see if I can find a woodturner or similar in the area.
Thanks again for the ideas.
