Hooray for neighbour - we can use our bathwater for gardening now

All our water butts are empty. Have tried sloshing buckets of water down the stairs to outside. Not fun.
Our neighbour has just given me his old pond pump. All I have to do is shove it in the bath with a hosepipe connected. Aim the hose pipe at the water butt from the bathroom window and turn on the pump.

Only after a trial session I've decided it will take two of us until I've refined the system. Plug is in bedroom, can only see/aim hose from loo room (next to bathroom) and pump musn't run dry so also need to keep an eye on the bath.
The result of trying to coordinate activity in all 3 rooms was quite spectacular. I don't think the neighbours were expecting their garden to get watered

That is fab!! I am very jealous¬! Could you get a longer hosepp that goes to the butt?

I think a longer hose pipe will help. Iheres just a huge satisfaction in finding a free solution!

well done - how did you manage that?! so what have you all managed to grow? I now have 10 different types of vegetables growing in the back garden! ...and all I found I needed was a little inspiration which i got from the Christian based Send a Cow Charity ...Actually you may be interested to know in the work of Send a Cow - www.sendacow.org.uk/ourwork - We are based in Bath, work with rural community groups in nine countries in Africa, providing small-scale farmers with the skills and means to feed their families and earn an income. can't you siphon it out? slow, but works for us.

You've just reinded me - I must ask my upstairs neighbours for their kitchen scraps! We're in the garden flat and we compost so it'd be good to save their potato peels from the landfill!
