Totally sad & pathetic reason not to be more ethical

I went round for 2/3 days turning everything off at the socket, especially over night

Around the same time I stopped getting phone calls, I realised that I was turning the phones off.

I though OK I will go round (all 3 phones) and unplug them & plug them in separately (rather than in those long bar extensions)

But I really can't be bothered crawling under furniture and pulling everything out

That is such a lame excuse

I will do it....one day

Isn't there a gadget you can buy that switches everything off at once for you?

KatyMac · 27/01/2009 21:25

But I would still lose the phones wouldn't I?

I need to rearrange my cables to separate the phones of the central extension

I do things by room. I live in a large house, but for 5 days a week, it's just me and DS... 4 of the bedrooms, 1 bathroom and 2 reception rooms get 'switched off' during the week.

It takes a bit of organisation (and you have to deal with shut doors, cos I turn the heating right down too) but it is possible.

When everyone else comes back, I open up the rest of the house and switch it all back on again...

I have (this evening) pulled all the furniture out and moved the playroom phone to a separate socket - so all else can be turned off leaving that on (charging)

Only 2 to go

Do you think an electric clock costs more or less to run than a battery one

(bedroom next)

I would imagine that an electic clock is more cost effective, unless you recharge batteries...

snorkle · 28/01/2009 09:21

I reckon electric clock is more efficient - even if you recharge batteries unless you have a very inefficient transformer.

OK so bedroom plugs don't need to be reorganised

So it's just the lounge now - I don't want to move the dresser unless I have to, so it will have to wait

Could you possibly buy the extension bar things with the separate switches for each plug?

like this

That way you could leave the extension on, leave the phone switches on but switch everything else off.

Lenlen · 07/03/2009 05:41

yeah that's a good one.

KatyMac · 07/03/2009 06:36

Thanks for the idea but it will still involve moving the dresser....so it will have to wait til OFSTED have been & my OU work is finished

I did the switching everything off once.

Then sobbed the next night when I pulled my dinner out of the oven and it was stone cold what with me not having switched it back on
