Would it be reasonable for me to get a tumble drier?

Am living in a house with storage heaters I just cannot afford to turn on at all, it would cost between £5 and £10 a day and they don't really do much..!
Therefore am heating one room at a time using halogen heaters. We feel warm enough but as a consequence the house is getting very damp from the washing hanging up all over it from Nov to March. There's condensation all oevr the windows. Nothing sems ever to dry properly, just sits there smelling stale, and am spending a small fortune even just using my iron to help! Not to mention the fact that it's a small house, and we can't move for all the airers. Would I be advised to give in and buy a tumble drier? They have an extravagant rep but have a feeling i might actually save money. We have space for a vent so could buy one of the cheaper ones. Also does anyone know where I can get an energy efficient one for a decent price?

Sounds to me like you NEED one.

Loads of sales online just now.

get one of those heated airers, more ethical and more economical

Oh wow hello, thought I was the only one up at this time! Been painting my bathroom..
thanks for easing my guilty conscience!
Which sites should I look at? I really am clueless. Need a place which provides a fitting service and long guarantee, and definitely under £200 and if possible, A rated!

White knight do an A rated drier. It has an eight hour drying cycle which uses less power than the conventional tumble dryer as it dries the clothes using less heat. I think they're about £175

Get one with a condenser - much better than the elephant trunk style as the condenser collects the water

Hey! Thanks for your advice! This is for Zanzibar - after extensive research I looked at all the reviews and chose one from Argos called Hotpoint TVF760P. It has a moisture sensor thing so I think you would save money by not drying clothes that are already dry, even though it is only C rated. They deliver, connect it and collect your old one too and the whole thing comes to under £200. The White knight one looks pretty good but I don't have the patience to wait for my washing to dry for hours and hours... I bought a vented one as heard condenser ones tend to pump damp air into the house which I seriously don't want, and also there is more likely to go wrong with them!
If you haev the money, the best is meant to be about £500 from John Lewis and it's an A rated one with a long guarantee..
