My nappies have gone crunchy!

I've just read the thread about keeping clothes soft, but wonder if anyone has any advice about real nappies? We live in a hard water area and last time round DD got dreadful nappy rash and sore legs with her nappies. Don't want DS to suffer the same way. I am using fleece liners this time which is an improvement, but those nappies are CRISP!! Does vinegar really help? if so, how much?

Come over here and ask that question again.

I assume you don't want to replace them with microfibre nappies (soft but smelly IMO).

Vinegar, yes, advice from Kittykins: White (or distilled) vinegar can be used instead of fabric conditioner to help keep your nappies soft. This is especially helpful if you live in a hard water area. Use a generous 'slug' in the fabric softener drawer of your washing machine.

Otherwise tumble drying (I know, I know...) - even for 10 minutes when they are nearly dry - makes a world of difference.

or if you are up for replacing, ones like Bimbles with a fleece inner layer are good as however crispy the cotton gets the fleece stays soft
