My shampoo confession

OK, so I need to offload my guilt here and declare publicly that I have given up on eco-friendly shampoo.

I've been using it for years, have tried various types, have been paying 8 quid a bottle for green people stuff and my hair never feels clean and always looks crap.

I have very thick greying hair with a tendency to frizz and the other day I threw ethics to the wind and bought chemical-laden L'Oreal-produced, Fructis frizz fighter and I'm sorry to say my hair looks and feels 100 times better.

I know I shouldn't care more about my hair than about the parabens and sodium laureth sulphate but I'm sticking with it.

I don't have a car, a microwave, or a tumble dryer, don't wear make-up or perfume, use all eco-friendly cleaning products, I recycle and compost....PLEASE can I be let off, oh ethical livers?

I'm glad you like it DB, it's fab stuf isn't it? I've been using their liquid African Black Soap in the shower for the last week and it's very gentle on my skin too. It doesn't foam quite as well as non-green shower gel but I use it on a nylon scrunchy thingy and it works well (so long as I can distract my mind from thinking it looks like runny poo ).

Don't bother with Burt's Bees conditioner, I didn't think it was all that special considering the price and it doesn't last as long as the shampoo so it's not very good value. I don't think commercial conditioners (like Aussie) as as un-green anyway as they don't have detergent in them. I'm willing to be corrected though if anyone knows differently.

I'm going to join this little club! I love Jason and use most of their stuff, but have found the shampoo rubbish, I've used faith in nature and countless other shampoos. The one I did find (can't remember the name now) was discontinued so that is that. Am currently on an organic one from sainsbos which is Ok but not great and I too have reverted to 'normal' conditioner thinking it hasn't got SLS (my main bugbear, it's soooo harsh on the skin/hair) so I'm back at square one. Thinking maybe Bnatural (tescos - how very dare I ) might be my next one (if they do one) I've bought their body butter and it's lovely and also their night cream is good plus it's also cheap! Will let you know.

Daniel Galvin Jnr shampoo from Waitrose is fabulous, esp the organic Lavender one.
