Anyone made their own cleaning products?

Has anyone made their own washing up liquid? We are trying to go green (and cheaper) in this house, esp as being pg i am trying to avoid harsh chemicals. I found a book in M&S called Organic at Home where the home section is written by Alison Haynes. There is a recipe for washing up liquid using washing crystals, soap flakes, vinegar and essential oils but unless you want to make 10L it isn't very practical and i had to divde very innacurately by 8 (as i don't have digital scales) to get 1L. And i've ended up with this very watery looking stuff. Does anyone have a better recipe for this and / or any other home made cleaning products?

I think I would just buy a green washing up liquid. Tescos do a cheapish green one

Not washing up liquid (I buy ecover), but do make my own cleaner from white vinegar

How about this -

2 litres boiling water

2-3 drops tea tree oil

8 grams soap flakes

8 grams soda crystals

1 tsp vinegar

Mix and put into a soap dispenser

It uses the same ingredients, but more manageable quantities!

Soapnuts can be used for your laundry then boiled to make multi-surface cleaner (or just boiled if you don't want to use them for laundry) that can also be used for washing up. It's not too important how much water you put in.
