I tried using bicarb to clean the kitchen but it has left surfaces still with white powdery residue after a few rinses..... any tips?

Maybe try using a microfibre cloth with water - it's meant to lift off everything. Noticed packs of 4 cloths in Poundland today for, yes you've guessed it, £1.

Vinegar helps in my house. I have it in a spray pump from the garden section in John Lewis and spray it over the bi-carb residue and it wipes off well. If you add a few drops of lavender it masks the vinegary smell.

I just re-read that and was horrified at how Mrs Beeton I have become. I would like to add that there was a time before I became a SAHM when had a life!!!

You can find answers to all your questions on mumsnet. I was just moaning about this this morning, thought I'd have a little look on mumsnet, and there's a thread asking exactly what I was wondering!! Will definitely try the vinegar. Though - could've asked you in RL Balthamos [wave] but sometimes having this conversations out loud is just too domesticated for me

Hi Lyra - wave - just seen this. Yes, i know what you mean, this type of question is too domesticated in RL! We would come across as particularly lentil-weaving if we were extended BFing at the same time as discussing it!
