moondog, how I agree - I resisted for years but dh in his economy drive has replaced them all, except for spotlights...hate it

They are just about bearable in a room if you mix them with a few incandescent bulbs. DH has installed some in our (dark, basement) flat and I hate having to wait for them to warm up if I've just popped into a room to look for something. DH is actually an anti-environmentalist and I think mainly likes them for their toxicity and difficulty of disposal.
