I've had to give up on Ecover laundry products, and I feel guilty

My washing machiene was really skanky and smelling. I use cloth nappies, it NEEDS to get clean - otherwise poo smell hangs around in there! I loved Ecover at first, have used it for 2 years, but have finally givven up on eco solutions to the stink (tried vinegar, borax, bicarb, several extra hot empty washes, etc etc).

Now have a big box of ariel. I know I am murdering little fishies in the atlantic who are now drinking it. I feel crap.

That's v interesting surprise, what temp do you do your normal washes on?

Like "surprise" I use a wash ball and think it's great. No more grey gunk in the door seal or black mildew in the drawer. It gets the clothes nice and clean, and no fabric softener needed. On bad stains - and I'm thinking of grass stained school trousers and white shirts, then I make up a paste with borax and water and apply it to the stain. Works a treat!

I put white vinegar in the dishwasher when that's looking a bit scummy. Just fill the dispenser with the vinegar and put it on a hot wash with no dishes. Very sparkly!!
