Which is more "ethical"? Puts me into a dilemma every time I buy them.

I had to really think about this but the short answer is to buy fairtrade (because of the great long-term consequences for people and their children) and put loads of pressure on the supermarkets to stop wrapping their fruit and veg in plastic. You could always take the plastic off at the till once the item's been scanned and leave it for them to dispose of!

I always have this dilemma too! I try and do the fairtrade option but the plastic is annoying. Have also found that they are always really bruised recently.

all sainsbury bananas are fairtrade and loose if that helps.

sainsburys have organic fairtrade wrapped in compostable 'plastic'. I think

the tesco value ones, because quite often they are fairtrade or organic, but they are funny shapes so de-valued. I feel sorry for them being discriminated against based on size or curvature, so buy them
