what's the best reusable water bottle?

Really fed up with having to buy plastic bottles to fill up with water every few months or so (they seem to get damaged easily). Trouble is, the normal reusable plastic ones always seem to taste of plastic. Was thinking that aluminium ones might be the answer. Does anyone know of any that are leakproof and also dishwasher-safe? Thank you.

one friend has something called I think a sigi bottle.
I don't think you're meant to put aluminium stuff in the dishwasher are you? Why would you anyway if it just has water in it?

Well I read somewhere that even if you just have water in a bottle, some spit (enzymes or something) can get into the bottle and start causing bacteria to grow, so you need to wash it with warm soapy water. As we have a dishwasher, I don't want to be running more hot water just to wash out a bottle. Will try to find out more about it. thanks for the suggestion - will go off and google!

Nalgene bottles are fab, they come in lots if different sizes and are dishwasher-safe. I have a couple aluminum bottles too. sometimes I just boil a little extra water in the kettle when I'm making tea and put in in the aluminum bottle with some soap and cold water to clean it out.

SIGG

I have one of these:

www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?Cat=cycle&ProdID=5360026590&N=Camelbak%20Better%20750ml%20Bottle

although in the 750ml size, and it is FAB. Because it has the straw in it - it means you don't have to tip it or your head up to drink out of it - so extra fab when you are in the car or on the treadmill or whatever. Also, you can stick it in the dishwasher, and it doesn't get tainted with anything you put in it (and I have had milk in mine at one point no bother), oh, and they look cool

Oh, and I have had SIGG bottles (in aluminium) but always end up denting them really badly somehow - so I prefer plastic
