I admit I was sceptical but they are fantastic! The clothes come out of the tumble drier so soft and fresh that they could have been blowing in an April breeze. Okay I know we did take the washing poles out of the garden so the boys could have a bigger area to play football on but at least we are still trying + we do have 3 compost bins and a wormery !

Ooh - have seen them Cyber but not tried - might have a go now

I have seen those and were a bit sceptical. Do they reduce the drying time? (trying to reduce our electricity bill

cyberseraphim · 01/04/2008 13:28

I have not done comprehensive testing on times for drying - the first run was this morning and I was so impressed that I felt I must pass the news on. There is much less lint in the drier too - which might be bad news for the worms as they used to eat it

Mine very quickly fell apart in the drier kept finding bits stuck in the filter till eventually disintergrated completely

cyberseraphim · 01/04/2008 18:27

oh dear... but they seem so solid. How do you think it happened? Are we talking about the same kind of eco ball?

we use eco balls in the washing machine, so needs no detergent, just bleach for whites. they are fab, stuff comes out smelling of clean cotton, as if dried outside even if we have dry them inside. lovely! don't have a drier, so no idea whether they are meant to work in them or not.....

sparkleymummy · 01/04/2008 19:27

what type are you using. might give them a go

cyberseraphim · 01/04/2008 20:11

I meant the solid plastic balls that go in the tumble drier - which i know is not eco friendly in itself but at least I don't need conditioner and all its packaging now.... I think you can get other balls that go in washing machines to wash as mentioned by Woollymummy. I will try those next

I think the ones I bought must have been a cheap alternative as they were hollow plastic. Where could I buy the ones you are talking about as they sound much better? I do try laundry outside weather permitting but sometimes I have to use drier.

cyberseraphim · 02/04/2008 10:57

Mine are from John Lewis and I can't imagine them falling apart but like I say I've only used them once so far

Mine are the JML ones from Robert Dyas, had them for about a year and used daily and have stood up to the rigours of time

iloatheironing · 02/04/2008 15:09

Thanks

cheesesarnie · 04/04/2008 22:32

i was looking at these today-might try them

mumdebump · 08/04/2008 11:10

I was told that putting some tennis balls in your tumble drier would have same effect as the eco drier balls things? Has anyone tried this?

purpleflower · 08/04/2008 11:13

I got some in poundland. They are solid and seem to be doing the job
