After 9 months of pregnancy and 9 months of bfing my periods have just returned today. Oooh, it makes me feel all icky and weird like I'm 13 again

I have thought about a mooncup but I am not sure. Convince me it's a good a idea!

I'm thinking of getting one too... tmi but since the baby (I'm on my 2nd period since the birth now) I'm finding tampons don't seem to stay in place very well...

Get one, have had mine since having dd2 (now 3 years, allow a bit before af returned...) and I love it. Took a couple of months to get the hang properly but never looked back.

You won't know until you try, and I think they offer your money back if you don't like it direct from the mooncup site (although it's been a while since I checked).

Have used my mooncup now for nearly a year and wouldn't swap it!! I personally love it.. once you get used to the emptying thing, which doesn't take long.. there is no carrying tampons in you handbag... or trying to find the tatty one at the bottom of your bag, because you got caught out. To me just like a tampon.. but no leaks, no carrying them about and brilliant for holidays!!! etc. they com in different sizes .. but there is a guide and it worked well for me, easy enough to know how old i was and if i had children. they seem to be a bit expensive to start with... so I just got the one... but then I haven't bought a tampon/ pad since so well worth it!!

GET one! I have a stock of tampons/pads in my cupboard that I don't know what to do with because I would NEVER use anything else again. They even (seem) to make periods less painful. Mine's in use now and I had almost forgotten about it (ok, tmi, sorry)

Mooncups are brilliant. After about a day to get used to it, it's far far more comfy than tampons or pads and I feel terribly virtuous about my lower energy consumption and waste output . Just need to remember to take a little bottle of water to wash it out if using public loos - but that's not difficult as I usually carry water in my bag anyway.

EasterBunnylicious · 20/03/2008 10:48

Yes, see that's the problem, at work I would have to come out of the toilet cubicle to wash it. Also, can you use it as soon as you start bleeding, even when it's very light, and towards the end?

Fab, and yes unlike tampons you can use it even when very light, or pop it in in anticipation if you are due on.

iheartdusty · 20/03/2008 12:53

easterbunnylicious, you don't have to wash it every time, can just empty and wipe with toilet paper. baby wipes for your hands can work if you're using a shared loo and have to come out to wash hands.

Depending on how heavy you are, you may not even need to change it at work - I find I can keep mine in for quite a bit longer than a tampon.

EasterBunnylicious · 21/03/2008 07:05

Thank you. I went out and bought one yesterday! Haven't had a chance to use it yet though.

They are fab. I freaked out when I saw it for real, but now I couldn't use anything else.

kikid · 24/03/2008 20:45

I don;t change mine at work, I can keep it in for up to 12 hrs without a leak, so i suppose it depends how heavy you are.

squidler · 24/03/2008 20:47

I have one too - I love mine and would not every go back to disposable paper sanitary stuff. Took a few months to get used to it and I had to cut off the stem totally when confident that I would be able to retrieve it and it wouldnt be stuck there forever, but its great now.

Mind you, dont tell anyone that you wash and re-use things - some strange responses out there sometimes!
