Convince me to stick with proper nappies.

I have used real nappies since dd1 4.5 yo was born and have always loved them. I live in a flat so have no hanging out space although am moving to a house next week.
Anyway to cut a long story short dd2 2yo has nappy rash all the time, leaks constantly ie 3 changes of clothes in day as she drinks so much. And to be honest i am fed up of sticking my hand down the toilet. Both dds have always had diahorrea due to food intolerances. My hands always smell of s**t and I am feed up with what appears to be getting hard work.
I am not lazy and love nappies, I am looking forward to being able to hang out but I just don't think I can take 3 changes of clothes with me everywhere i go anymore.
Please convince me otherwise.
DD2 is in disposable as of today until after we have moved on Thursday and I am not sure I want to unpack them again.

could it be the wrap or nappy u r using do u use disposible liners then u wouldn't have t oput ur hand down a loo u just flush the liner away i feel the same sometimes when i have got them drying all round the house but then i just carry on with it and learn to like them again have u tried motherease wraps

WE have motherease airflow, tots bots and nature babies wraps, all v.good. Her nappies are literally saturated so no wrap would work, we use ellas house or minki huggles so I don't think you can actually get more absorbant, we do boost them as well.

Thought about liners today, only problem is dd1 likes to play with them and always nicks then all and has an absolute hissy fit if you take them off her.

I probably actually need to limit her liquid intake but this always feels a bit mean.

I quite like when they are drying everywhere, I love looking at them and I love my dd2's big squiggy bum in them.

with my dd2 who was a super power wee and drank loads I only ever found that bumbles double boosted with ME air flow was the thing to work.

If your dd is 2 now and got nappy rash etc would it be worth moving house settling down for a few weeks and giving potty training a shot? I only say this because I have been forced to potty train dd4 before I was ready because she some sort of horrendous sore bottom that just wouldn't get better so I've trained her and it's been fine (the training that is, the bottom is slowly getting better)

problem is with the diarehhea I would not like any accidents to clear up, especially on my lovely new carpet.
Have got some bright bots though

She is actually 2 in about 3 weeks, dd1 was nearly 3 and we had an absolute nightmare training her.

cherry, as a real nappy user myself, i think you should cut yourself some slack, try dispos for a bit see how you get on.

Washersaurus · 24/02/2008 20:11

I was about to say the same thing. I use real nappies and in your shoes would switch to disposables (of an Eco variety of course ) for a week to give yourself a break - no need to beat yourself up over it. Toddler diarrhoea is grim!

CarGirl · 24/02/2008 21:12

2 of mine have been really easy to train and 2 a nightmare so you never know........
