Cutting dishwasher tabs in half?

Does anyone else cut their dishwasher tabs in half to get more washed out of a pack?
I’ve heard of this hack and thought I’d give it a go. But my OH has completely freaked out and said it’s not sensible to do it and it’s toxic etc. wondered what everybody’s thoughts on it were please?

@nobeer we got a blocked washing machine outlet pipe when we were using smol laundry liquid tablets. I used them as per the instructions. Not I’m using less than the recommended laundry powder which has resulted in no problems.

Hopefully your approach works too but I would be concerned about fat and grease build up in dishwasher outlet pipes

Never heard of this back, but it's so obvious, Im sitting here wondering why on Earth I haven't done this before. Will definitely give it a go with my Ecover tablets! I would suggest rinsing everything first would probably help with the reduced cleaner. Another soft water area, so it shouldn't be an issue.

I don’t even rinse things. It all comes off still 😬

Hard water area here and we never rinse for our half an Ecover tab and haven't had any build-up issues. It's 9 years old and no problems so far.

When the cycle starts I can hear water going in but the tablet drawer doesn't click open for about 10 minutes so I presume that's a pre-wash/rinsing period anyway.
