I have cut down to just 1 cleaning product

I am a sucker for nice smelling things and had an insane amount of cleaning products.
I have now cut everything down to just one! I use Ecover washing up liquid for everything. Have some watered down in a spray bottle or use it neat. It works particularly well on the shower doors. Windows and mirrors get done with water and an ecloth.
I have so much space under the sink now!

I manage with 2 but it’s because I have a dishwasher.

So dishwasher tabs and Method Spray. If you like nice smelling then you might like Method

The number of ones I'm using seems to be creeping up. I definitely need to make an effort to reduce the amount I use.

Yes it does - squirt around and give a good scrub with the brush.

(I'm not the OP, I just use the one product for everything too!)

I love the idea of this. But would it work in a hard water area? I suspect not ...

We live in a hard water area and I have tried every product known to man on our shower screens. Washing up liquid is by far the best!
I do cheat sometimes, so if I do need something stronger for the toilet I use some washing powder.

Vinegar works wonders in hard water areas.

I use citric acid in the loo. Also a hard water area. All the scale just dissolves. Works in the kettle as well.
I’m surprised that the soap doesn’t leave a residue on the glass. I use white vinegar and water in the spray bottle and it does the mirrors too.
Ecover washing up liquid comes in handy as shampoo; my head itches a lot and I’ve always used head and shoulders, but that stopped working. My daughters are horrified. 😀

Please tell me you don't use it as toothpaste though....

What about when you need something antibacterial though?

I do EXACTLY this too! For me, it started because i was getting bad eczema and i knew i was ok with ecover. I thought i would bring back other products one at a time to see what i was reacting to but it worked so well i just havent bothered!

You don’t need antibacterial cleaning stuff in a normal household.

Using it as a bathroom cleaner does make sense as a lot of grime in there is grease. Not sure whether it's effective against limescale buildup though (am outing myself as a sloven!)

Detergents (washing up.liquiid, washing powder, soap) have no effect on limescale.

Well, you'll have cleaner limescale. But it won't get rid of it.

Same for bleach.

Washing up liquid is the best for stains on clothes too

I never use anything antibacterial, why would you in a normal home? 4 of us here and no one been ill for years

Why wouldn't you want to use antibacterial on your loo though?

I only use method spray now and it so much cheaper now Ive found the refil bottles on amazon 2 litre bottle for £7!

I'm also trying to cut down on the number of cleaning products I use.
Interested to know what you use to clean your oven.

For what? I've never bought antibacterial anything.

Because I don't lick it.

I love the Planet Detox bars, fabulous soap type bars with essential oils and a little pumice for scrubbing. They do the kitchen and bathroom beautifully and I use them on the shower screens, the pumice gets rid of limescale and then a microfibre cloth gets rid of residue and streaks. They do a great scrub for putting down the loo too which gets rid of all sorts.

Those who use antibacterial/bleach on and in their toilet, I hope you haven't got a septic tank or similar. These need bacteria to work well particularly the more modern versions, ours is 30 years old and I noticed it didn't need emptying since I became stricter about bleach etc. Our house was plumbed with the washing machine and dishwasher emptying into the septic tank so I'm very fussy now that I know that. My dB has a more modern system and they were warned by the manufacturer and installer that no bleach or even spays with added bleach should be used. I don't think we need antibacterial products on a daily basis anyway, we're all pretty healthy, the house is clean, it's not a hospital so I won't treat it like one.
