The following post has been authorised by Mumsnet HQ

Hi

My name is Suzanne - I am a member of mumsnet and i have just started a local freecycle group which is all about recycling and getting rid of your unwanted things that could be useful to someone else and keeping it out of the landfill sites - this is a global network but i have just started our own local one in fareham hampshire (po14 area ) a lot of parents put their baby and children things on there in either wanted or offered adds - all are free -

groups.yahoo.com/group/fareham_freecycle/

The Fareham Freecycle® group is open to all who want to "recycle" items they no longer need, rather than throw them away. Whether it's a chair, a fax machine, piano or an old door, you can offer it on our group. Or maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself! Nonprofit groups are also welcome to participate too!

One main rule: everything posted must be free. This group is part of The Freecycle Network, a nonprofit organization and a movement of people interested in keeping good stuff out of landfills. Check out uk.freecycle.org for more information and other UK groups. Please e-mail [email protected] with any questions

freecycle is a great place. i love offering things on there knowing that it will (hopefully) get kept out of landfills. the only thing that really bugs me, is when people ask for silly things like laptops, widescreen tv's etc.

I love Freecycle too - and am amazed at the variety of things that get offered and taken. Good luck Suzanne.

I'm going to give my old baby toys and books to a freecycler tomorrow - the charity shop near me couldn't take them because they had too much stock - great site.
