Inspiration/guides to growing own food.

Is anyone trying to grow more of their own food? Can anyone recommend any good UK based tiktok/youtube accounts to watch for inspiration? I've seen a few but lots are based in the USA.

We have been growing bits and pieces here and there for a few years, but I would like to see if we could do more/better.

Hi @PeepsAndSheeps we are trying to be more self sufficient by growing as much as possible. I agree YouTube seems v American re growing, I use various books and magazines for info and talk to friends who are more experienced. I think it's pretty straightforward though - good soil, good timing for sowing seeds and planting on, feed weekly, discourage slugs... We use egg shells and murder by brick for the latter.
I'm sure there's loads more but that's my approach.

Thank you. We are doing much the same, with some success. I would love to see people companion planting and making the most of their space etc.

There are multiple Facebook groups dedicated to growing your own, join a few of them, local and national. I can also recommend www.growveg.co.uk/guides/. RHS website is good, and Sarah Raven has great advice/weekly emails (and lustworthy plants...). Sarah also has a good guide somewhere about how to choose what to grow - eg don't dedicate loads of space to stuff that's accessible and cheap to buy, and don't waste space on stuff you don't like or is hard to grow. www.sarahraven.com/articles/starting-a-vegetable-garden-from-scratch. This might be it.

Look up Charles Dowding, no dig gardening, I think he has lots of videos (I prefer written and keep getting a noted that so much of it is videos 😁)

Head over to the gardening forum to join the allotment chat. There are lots of lovely helpful people over there.

I second the recommendation for Charles Dowding. I wish I had done no-dig in my garden and will be doing it in the next one.

I enjoy what Vidi did next she's self sufficient and grows all her own veg. I also got allotment books out the library . I don't have an allotment but it gave great tips on when to sow and harvest veg
