I mean really no use, like out of date text books.
What’s the best thing to do with them?

Im sad to say that last house move I put old text books into the book bank at our local tip/household recycling centre.
They were very out of date.

Are they any use for crafts?
Could you put them up on freecycle or any craft fb pages and see if anyone wants them?

I had about 2000 paperback books. No charity shop would take them for love nor money. I had to take them to the book bank at the tip. The staff there said that they would be checked and probably pulped, which really bothered me for some reason, but then they said, well, look in the bright side - they won’t go into landfill, and some will be used to make new books. Felt a bit better after that.

I have some too. I will find a book bank for text books

Stick them in a box outside your house with a 'help yourself' note. It might shift some of them?
Other than that, the charity book bins.

LassoOfTruth · 10/12/2021 21:13

Webuybooks.com seem to like any reference/text books even if old. I got rid of loads when we moved. Failing that, the charity book bins are a good way to recycle them

I know the sort of thing you mean. Like computing textbooks from 20 years ago. Out of date and no use to anyone because knowledge has moved on and they’re no longer relevant. Not much you can do except bin them unfortunately.

There is a book donation site that takes academic texts and gives them to lower income countries, although I've always been a bit sceptical about how useful they are, book harvest. Worth a look

Medical text books, and some teaching ones. Not old enough to be of historical interest, but too old for anyone to learn from!
