Convince me back into CLOTH. I had real probs with DS and nappy rash that extended down his legs so switched to disps. and have not gone back yet.

I tried everything suggested here.
He got a nasty 'spreeth' (sp?) more than anything else, between his legs where the nappy touched between his legs.
I tried changing wraps and even tried woolly shorts but I could never get them to keep stuff dry. I wanted the wool primarily for night but his bed would always be soaked in the morn.
Another prob. was getting the nappy packed enough to keep him dry at night. It was suggested I over packed the nappy, not allowing the nappy to soak up but nothing seemed to help.
I want to go back as they are so cute and I have a whole washing basket (and more ) of various nappies and wraps going to waste.
I nearly offered them for sale on here but I don't want to let them go.
Now I actually have hot running water back and can wash them properly I want to start using them again.
DS2 has no problems in cloth but I have noticed that DS1s skin appears to be much more sensitive.
Anyone?

Have you "stripped" them - so rinsed them in a whole bottle of vinegar to get rid of the ammonia before washing as normal on as hot a wash as possible with vinegar again as a conditioner. Worked wonders with my ds2 who is also a heavy wetter.

No, I have not heard of this!
Just the once yeah? Like a spring clean?

yep, just the once should do it, like a spring clean indeed! Be careful what temp you wash at though - not too hot (check the labels)

Have to admit to not being quite sure what a 'spreeth' is . Do you think it was down the the wraps or the nappy? Did you get any improvement with the wool? What nappies did you use? There will be a solution, it's just finding it that's the problem

We started sproglet off on cloth, but now use disposables (one per night) overnight. When he got to about 15 months the cloth ones (OneLife plus booster) just couldn't cope, so he was getting and staying soggy and consequently rather red. Using the disposable overnight seems to work fine, and we stay ecologically sound during the day. Mind you, we use compostable disposables, so even nights aren't too evil.

Agree - use disposables at night - it's only 1 disposable a day then.

'Spreathe' is when your thighs rub together and it gets sore, usually in summer. It really stings.
DS gets it where the nappy touches/rubs between his legs.
I have had them both back in cloth since yesterday and no sign of the spreathe yet, but the seat of his bottom has gone pink and dry though I did forget the fleece liner and since putting one in it is going back to normal. Fingers crossed.

I will probo use the disps at night as he was sodden this morning, but DS2 woke up dry so don't know what I did differently?! He was wearing a little lambs size 2 with a folded muzzy as a boosted between the lamb and a bearbehinds wrap?
Totally normal sort of day boostage but it lasted all night? Very good wrap though so I think that was a lot to do with it.

I have a pic of the spreathe on my profile, will open it back up so you can all see.
