How do I keep my cheese fresh without using clingfilm?

I try not to buy disposable products. People managed for years without them. But I'm fed up with my cheese going hard and dry at the edges.

A tupperware is no good because it's still got air in it.

I tried baking paper - no good. Is waxed paper what I need?

What do you use?

I carefully cut along the sealed edge of a block of supermarket cheese, squeeze out the cheese, cut what i want for that meal, then squeeze it back into the original wrapping. A bit of careful origami and precise placing back in the fridge and it should be perfectly preserved until i next want it.

Then dh comes along, rips it open and wraps it in three layers of cling film . Oh well, it was worth a try.
