Yes - I absolutely love it. Got into trolleys when living in Paris where lots of people use them for shopping in their quartier. Just bought a fab one from IKEA for about 25 euros (no idea what they cost in Britain, but not much I bet. It's black with swirly white patterns on and not old-ladyish at all. People probably will think you are mad if you ask for one for Christmas, but who cares? It actually makes it possible to do a proper shop without the car - start a trend!

Oh yes it is marvellous. Mine is quite smart and black - I got it from local suitcase and bag shop. They are so useful, I love using it, and people do laugh a bit but I have seen people eyeing it up enviously as well. You can fit vast amounts in them and lug all your shopping home without that horrible plastic bag sdigging into your hands thing.

There are some cool ones on that site, not sure I can persuade someone to spend that amount though, think they'll assume I won't actually get round to walking to do the shopping but I figure it would be good even for putting the kids school bags in in on the way to school.

It always bugs me though to have to drag them there empty.
My Dad bought me back a heavy duty shopping bag from Paris that has wheels in the bottom .
So I roll it up on my way out and it is just a little bag and on the way home it does the donkey work for me.

LilianGish · 10/11/2007 19:30

I used to have that very model, mummytheresa, for some reason it smelled very strongly of creosote. Sadly the wheel fell off, but only after several years of loyal service.

I have got a tartan one!
it is very useful.

it's weird to see this in ethical living. i had to take my mum's wheeler to meet her every thursday for years. she was chained to it!

colditz · 10/11/2007 20:28

You can get a decent one from wilkos for about £15

I have a pushchair, which ds2 will be forced into until he is around 15, by which time ds1 should be able to drive.

firsttimemama · 10/11/2007 20:30

You can get them in Wilkinsons.

Hallelujah! I KNEW that there had to be a market for a trendier version of the granny trolley. Now I can look forward to the day I get rid of the buggy, instead of dreading it. Thank you so much everyone!!

Like LilianGish, I've got into trolleys living in Paris. We have two beautiful Rolser ones - one is bright red, the other dark green - and they cost about 50 euros each but are very tough and long lasting.
