Lavender oil in laundry - is it safe for baby things?

Hello, I have eco balls to wash with and I've recently started adding a few drops of lavender oil to the fabric conditioner drawer for the final rinse, makes my clothes & things smell lovely! But I'm wondering is it safe for baby clothes - I'm due in December and am intending to start washing all the new baby clothes and bedding I have got ready for the new arrival.
Also what other oils are good for fragrancing clothes? I have a mix of begamot, chamomile and lavender - is this a good mix to use?

TIA

i wouldn't use anything for a newborn. not even lavender. their skin is so, so sensitive, and a friend's newborn came out in a rash from using babywipes which are meant to be ok for a newborn (just use water and cottonwool for bottoms in the early days!)
there has been some scare over lavender and hormone alteration in boys. i don't know the details. cos i was putting a few drops in a burner in my boy's room to help him sleep but stopped after reading that.
don't want to scare you though!
also, there is no smell on earth that beats the wonderful scent of your baby! you won't want his/her clothes smelling of anything else.
oh, and DON'T use fabric conditioner either, and some babies (mine) are sensitive to bio powder so use non bio if possible.

I don't use fabric conditioner, but I will take your advice re: the essential oil - thought that might be the case, but thought I would ask! And I use my eco balls for all washes, haven't bought powder in months!

however, do continue making partner/best friend whoever massage your tired preggers feet with lavender!

If you wash them properly, you don't need to add perfume

My DH isn't bothered by my smelly feet
