Just that really.
For lots of reasons and most are fairly obvious - but it is hard finding clothes and shoes that are affordable and not made in China.

There are many other places nowadays where things are being made, other than China. Just take a look at the labels more closely.

As other people have said, there are some issues that go along with having these things made in places like China, Bangladesh, etc. Remember the big factory collapse that killed so many workers in Bangladesh?

Minimum wage in some countries is extremely low, and it's not enough to cover the basic cost of living.

Good for you Alpaca..

It's probably impossible to live a wholly locally sourced life but environmentally sound to buy as much locally as possible.

I try to buy U.K. food, home furnishings and garden goods can be done as well. Clothes & shoes are more difficult but not impossible. Plenty of clothes are made in Spain, Turkey, Bulgaria etc. I have clothes from France, UK and Sweden, although sometimes it takes a bit of effort to find them.

Our fairly average Uk market town has its own chocolatier. I can buy local pork, lamb, trout, chicken, game, Fruit, veg, pickles, cider, beer, wine, gin, bread, all direct from small producers within about 10 miles. Furniture, beeswax candles, soap, jewellery, Also locally made knitwear,

I love the internet, makes it much easier to find local producers. Smile Farmers markets & craft fairs too.
