Face wipe addiction

For over 10 years now I've used 1 facewipe a day (to my shame) purely to remove my makeup.

I've tried many times to kick the habit and use a different product but my skin always got worse and nothing worked as well as the good old faithful wipe.

I wear quite heavy eye makeup every day but that's about it. The main issue I find is removing mascara without getting a load of liquid in my eyes.

I've tried oil - hated it

Please can someone point me in the direction of something that might help me? Are these washable face wipes any good?

Thanks in advance

I have the no product flannel things which are good. I also prefer generally to use a facial flannel and cleanser.

A couple of years ago for a festival I used cotton pads and micellar water, which I had soaked beforehand and put in a ziplock bag. Could you try that?

Pipandmum · 02/01/2020 22:40

I use a biodegradable one from Tesco.

What brand of flannel do you have? @RealLifeHotWaterBottle I think I'd rather try the washable ones.

You can buy a set of three clothes from primark that you just use with water. They get any eye makeup off

*cloths

I use bamboo cloth pads, they're so soft, soaked in warm water (you don't want it too hot iirc it can damage the delicate skin around the eyes), squeeze the excess water out and put on a smear of coconut oil. I then hold it on my closed (obviously Grin ) eye to soak in and gently/slowly wipe it off. That usually shifts 80% of my eyeliner off. Then rinse and repeat once more.

I have the fleece ones from primark too. Pack of three. They’re really good. You just use them with water then bung them in the washing machine. Afterwards I use a cream cleanser and a muslin cloth and my skin is great.

I have a pile of washable wipes - basically towelling-backed cotton squares, about 8x8cm. I just splash on some micellar water, or any other cleanser, take off my makeup, then they go in the washing machine.

Face halo pads - changed my life and so easy to use

CointreauVersial · 02/01/2020 22:50

I think I bought mine on Etsy.

I use a hot cloth cleanser from Superdrug with a flannel, non foaming and gets most of my eye make up off, sometimes do an extra bit around the eyes if I’ve worn heavy make up

ConfidingFish · 02/01/2020 22:54

Nadine Baggot (beauty guru) raves about the Primark ones. I use a combination of resusable make up pads soaked with micella water on my eyes and then Liz Earle cleanse and polish as you can rub this all over your face, even your eyelids and it removes a little bit more that you didn't know was left on.

Some of my flannels are stained but it doesn't matter as it is only me who sees them. Mine are Ikea ones but I also have the Liz Earle muslins but I have been using Liz Earle for 20+ years so have built up a collection Grin

RealLifeHotWaterBottle · 02/01/2020 22:56

I use the w7 its magic ones, though also picked up some unbranded ones from tk maxx that are just as good.

I take them everywhere, and just wash/use on rotation

TiddlesUpATree · 02/01/2020 22:56

I cut up an old cotton baby blanket. Used pinking shears so they don't frey. They are around 6cm square. Got a lot from the blanket. Put the used ones in a small bra wash bag and wash all together. Use with micellar water. Still buy a pack of wipes if I'm going away though.

Thanks everyone. Lots of options here
