You know fill this bag we will collect it and make money giving a pittance to charity?

They have an email address and if you email them they put you on their "restricted address list"

Woo-hoo a tiny bit less plastic!

What is this email address and how do I get it? 🤔

Mrsjayy · 02/10/2019 10:47

I am home most of the time I give them back the person looks at me like I am crazy i just say I have nothing to put in them.

Kazzyhoward · 02/10/2019 10:52

I use them as bin liners - handy now we don't get free carrier bags in supermarkets which is what I used to use.

Grambler · 02/10/2019 10:53

We have a sign on the door that says "no charity bags." This also works.

KatyMac · 02/10/2019 10:59

email address on each bag - I'm annoyed enough to bother and have no where I can stick a sign easily

I turn them inside out and fill them with stuff to give away, then give them to the charity shop, a charity that I support. Or I fill them with old towels and stuff for the pet rescue and drop them there. They have holes in so not great for bin liners.

Those bags are often a con, not always a real charity, and also often picked up by thieves who know when the pick up day is.

sueH1983 · 06/10/2019 19:10

I just put a sign on my door saying no charity bags

BackforGood · 06/10/2019 19:14

If someone is being paid a pittance to stick a charity bag through every letterbox in your road, they are not going to start looking up some database somewhere first to see if you've entered your name so as not to receive them Hmm Grin Grin

A 'no charity bags' sign by your letterbox might work, but lie other people, I just use them when having a sort out and taking things to the charity shop.

I use them to fill up for my chosen charity instead. Saves finding another bag.

AwdBovril · 06/10/2019 19:24

I use them to carry stuff to the charity shops. They're usually pretty big & fairly strong, & have handles. Useful as we don't have a car. Also, overflow recycling bag (Christmas wrapping etc).

BeanBag7 · 06/10/2019 19:30

We seem to get them from a different charity each time. Often ones I've never heard of. I usually just use the bags for something else.

thatwasMauijustmessingaround · 06/10/2019 19:34

I used to get one or two of these a week. And lots of menus and junk mail. I put a big red sign up and not had any since.

The ones I used to get, i'd use as emergency bin liners or bathroom bin bags.

yellowallpaper · 08/11/2019 22:05

I use them to line the kitchen bin. I know it's not ideal, but at least they are not wasted.

SpringFan · 08/11/2019 22:11

My local hospice shop says that they can't accept anything in another charity's bag even if turned inside out.
I have returned them to the collectors, and I also emailed the local waste czar to ask him if there was anything that can be done about them.

iknowimcoming · 08/11/2019 22:15

@SpringFan - ffs they're having a laugh! I'd take my stuff somewhere else - thats totally batshit!
