Ecover powder not working on whites - alternatives?

Ecover powder sadly not touching the sides on whites washes I’m doing (mostly school T-shirt’s, vests). Even on 60 degrees the dirt just seems to be moved around rather than removed and cuffs and collars are coming out yellow. (Currently hanging them in sunshine to see if I can sun bleach the marks out)

Are there any eco- powders you can recommend that will do a better job, before I think about going back to bio-powder for white clothes at least. Thanks.

Scrub the collars and cuffs before putting the shirts in the machine with bicarb of soda (made into a paste with boiling water, or as hot as you can bear or is environmentally good for you.) Then put leftover bicarb or more in the machine too. I often use white vinegar too.

White vinegar on stinky armpits and try some soda crystals in the same drawer as the powder.

I never use the drawers in the washing machine, it's wasteful and messy IMO and E , I put everything straight in the drum, in those reusable containers. I also have 'softening' balls that work brilliantly so there's no need for bottles of the stuff.

The machine is never in need of an interior clean.

I never use the drawers either just shove the powder in the drum. I use a different eco powder and tbh is just as crap. Wondering what to do myself.

The softener balls and or half to 3\4 of a cup of white vinegar really helps the machine and detergent do their job Becky It doesn't make the clothes smell of vinegar. (dh says it does but it doesn't Grin ) he uses the wrong programme to wash his clothes.

can you put powder straight into the drum or do you need to use a container?

ppeatfruit · 14/08/2019 10:29

You don't HAVE to use a container, at my mums I use the detergent bottle top, or just put it on top of the wash, before adding the vinegar.

All detergents, powder or liquid can go straight into the drum.
I cannot find an eco detergent that's any way near as good at cleaning as Aerial, Persil etc 😠
