Or more Swiss Family Robinson.

I'm not going to /able to I was just thinking of an imaginary UK where every single person immediately winds the clock back by x years.

I suppose everyone would subsistence farm, Native fruits and vegetables would be grown and stored or preserved through the winter. You could have a cow and chickens, fish and hunt game.

And Laura Ingalls' daughter edited out some of the more difficult bits, people setting off in blizzards and not returning, one of the children dying young - it was a version of her life, but somewhat sanitised. Though the Long Winter is very bleak, they really are on the edge of starvation.

I guess they didn’t have Tupperware, hence the lunch in a tin pail Smile
It was a hard life, albeit one which gave the girls a lot of freedom.

Tsk, you lot have no romance in your souls. We'd make our own buttons out of our teeth that had fallen out.

The hot, muscular men partly made up for the death, disease and deprivation Grin

Thr biography sounds great, will give it a go. The drama series Carnival is set in the dust bowl era, fascinating and gripping but I had to give up when it got too horrible.

In RL Ma Ingalls lost a few children in infancy, they only showed one on the series though. Laura and Mary only had a 3 mile walk to school which was considered short, some children had a 15 mile journey which meant they didn't go often. Children were needed at home to work, there was little time to be frolicking in fields.

There was an American reality series called Pioneer House (still on youtube) where families lived for one year LHOTP style. The kids all hated it and one couple got divorced. The women and children always looked so scruffy, they all laughed saying there was no time to brush your hair.
