are you going for the " tenko" look?
dysnetry free to all coemrs?

I have just put bamboo in my kitchen and although I like it a lot it is scratching and I don't think is as hardwearing as I hoped it would be. I also have it in both my bathrooms where it is great. Just don't leave a bath mat on the floor as it traps the damp.

I am having it laid as we speak! I did a lot or research into flooring and Bamboo comes out on top everytime in relation to strength, durability, sustainability and price. The stuff we have bought is laquered for extra strength. We are having it in living/dining room and hallway. It looks lovely!

mmelody,
so did you decide against having it in a kitchen or bathroom - what would eb the reason for this? And who did you buy it from?

Ooo, have just been looking into this. Any recommendations for a company? Perhaps the durability depends on brand?? I was planning for kitchen/family room and maybe bathrooms and kitchen worktop.

mmelody, are you happy with it 2 weeks on?

We had re-do our flat 5 years ago, and got bamboo flooring throughout. We only lived in the flat for 2 years before moving, but as far as I know it is wearing pretty well (alot better than our wood floors in our current house!)

We have bamboo on our lounge floor, and it is scratching horribly. The oak we put in dh's office, which opens straight onto the street and is the entrance I use all the time with the buggy, is wearing much better. Personally, I wish we had put oak in the lounge, too, tbh.

We have bamboo in our playroom and family room. It is fantastic. We chose it because it is great over underfloor heating as it moves less than wood. Also as it is solid bamboo it can be sanded down so you can take a big megga scratch out of it. Like when someone gets a toy rake stuck under a chair when playing bus drivers! We had slightly darker than normal and a matt finish. Love it to bits.

Who did you buy it from far2busy? Pleased to hear it works well with underfloor heating too.

we have bamboo throughout the downstairs of the house - including the kitchen.
We've had it just over a year and there are a few scratches but nothing major - and with 3 kids thats quite good going!
The kitchen hasn't marked at all - still looks great.
We bought it from a local tile discount centre and 'haggled' him down - it was the same type that you can buy in Wickes etc.

i wouldn't have thought bamboo was very ethical at all! isn't that the reason that so many pandas are dwindling in numbers? may be totally wrong though

As it's a grass it therefore grows a lot faster than oak or other hardwood floors so much more sustainable.
