Alternative to face moisturisers

I feel like I'm just waking up to this. I don't like scaremongering or perpetuating dodgy research but more and more there's research into ingredients being linked to cancer, it's pretty scary. Like I said, I don't know the truth about it all and it's hard to find unbiased research but it's made me wary. That combined with wanting to spend less, consume less and use less packaging, is there an alternative to face moisturisers? I already use olive oil on my body. can I use this as a face cream alternative too? Will my make up go on ok? Will I get spots?! I have very dry skin and definitely feel like I need something. Hit me with any ideas! Thanks!

Olive oil can be comodogenic. But there are lots of oils you can use. I like jojoba, lots of people like rosehip.

Fushi have lots of options and information. I use their jojoba oil as a day cream, a 100ml bottle lasts me about 6 months- I use it as a nail oil and on the ends of my hair too.

You might want to read some of the information round the Dr Alkaitis range. His mantra is basically “if you wouldn’t eat it, don’t put it on your skin”. Here’s a link. I use the Facial Elixir as a night oil. It’s a lot of money for a bottle, but used nightly it lasts for over a year, and the results are excellent.

I love rosehip oil for my face. I wear it under my foundation and it keeps it looking fresh all day, no touch ups. Try and get a good quality one though, it should be a beautiful rich orange colour!

You’re welcome. There is a whole world of tips and advice on this once you start looking. Have gotten very happily lost in this world for many hours.

Haha yes I'm learning so much! I have been very focused on reducing my packaging but now I'm trying to be more conscious of ingredients too. I think as I'm doing the "no spend" year (just started) it's helping me focus on making good choices every time I buy something. Am reading Bea Johnson's book which I'm finding very interesting. Funny to think that about 6 months ago it would have all seemed too extreme for me, but now I'm a lot more open to ideas
