Bio D refillables

I currently buy washing up liquid, laundry liquid and hand wash from my local health food store. I take my bottles in and they refill them from large plastic containers.

I was very pleased with this effort to reduce waste until DH pointed out Bio D are still using plastic.

The shop assistant did not know whether the large containers were reused or recycled.

Does anyone else know?

I buy 5l containers of vinegar, washing up liquid etc. It's not ideal, but I figure it's better than ten 500ml bottles. I don't know if it is though ...

You are right, it's better one 10l bottle than 20 500ml bottles.

We use Splosh for some things now, refills come in soft packs, you send those back and they themselves are refilled.

The others we use Ecover, we have a very very large refill pack of washing up liquid and we refill it ourselves.

I’ve never heard of Splosh so I will have a google to look into that, thank you.

Hi!

The 5ltr and 15ltr are recyclable but are not currently made from recycled plastic like the smaller sizes are.

This is something Bio-D are working on though, and they're also looking at a return scheme for retailers.

I had hoped the retailers ones were also refilled but I realise this would incur lots of logistic and hygiene problems.

It really is difficult to cut down on plastic use.
